INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN IN GRADE 10 MATHEMATICS

I. Topic: Solving Word Problems Involving Permutation

Reference: Grade 10 Mathematics Learner’s Module pp. 288 - 297
https://create.kahoot.it/#user/29956f5a-2820-48ad-8676-d944fdbd688d/kahoots/created
Materials: LCD projector, laptop, pocket wifi, activity sheets, caution tape, sticks, colored papers, bond
paper, marker

II. LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the 60-minute period, 100% of the students, with at least 75% proficiency, should be able to:
A. recall how to evaluate expressions containing factorials,
B. cite real life situations that involve permutations,
C. solve word problems involving permutation of n objects taken r at a time, and
D. show cooperation while working as a group.

III. TEACHING PROCEDURES:

A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance

B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation (Group Games)

Activity #1: #AldubThePreparation

The class will play the Kahoot! Game prepared by the teacher as a team. This is a game of teamwork,
speed, and accuracy. Each member of every group will have to take turns in using their smartphones as
touchpad. The team with the highest Kahoot! Points wins the game. Below are the exercises given in the game:

3) 1. 2. 3.

(4 3
6 4. 5. 6.
From this activity, the teacher elicits from the class
the needed information for today’s discussion by asking the following questions:

* What does the notation mean? * Can you P ( n, r )

give your own examples of situations or
activities that you do which involve permutation?

* What are the pictures that you noticed as you *Are you familiar with the persons shown in the
play the game? pictures?

* What events do the pictures imply?

2. Presentation of the Lesson
#AldubTheMostAwaitedVisit

Based on Activity#1, the teacher takes the class into the events that happened during Alden’s visit
to the mansion. These events will be presented to the class as situations that involve permutation which
will be analyzed and solved using the Math Breaker.

Scene #1:
In the living room, Yaya Dub is thinking on how she can hang and arrange in a row her photos
with Alden. She has 3 pictures but there are only 2 available spaces, in how many ways can she do the
arrangement?

SOLUTIONS: In the living room, Yaya Dub is thinking on how she can hang and arrange in a

Yaya Dub can do the arrangement in 6 different ways.

Scene # 2

In the dining area, Rhianna wants to take a photo

of Alden, Yaya Dub, Tidora, and Tinidora. In how
many ways can they pose in a row for picture
taking if Alden and Yaya Dub insist on standing
beside each other?

SOLUTIONS:

Tinidora. In how many ways can they stand in a row for picture taking if Alden and
Yaya Dub insist on standing beside each other?

Alden, Yaya Dub, Tidora, and Tinidora can stand in a row for picture taking in
12 different ways.
Scene # 3

During that day, unexpected visitors

brought by 5 cars came into the mansion.
In how many ways can the 5 cars be
parked in the garage if it can only
accommodate 3 vehicles at a time?

The cars can be parked in the garage in 60 different ways.

The teacher then asks the class on what they think happened next in the midst of the happenings
during Alden’s visit at the mansion.
C. Application (Group Activity) 10

Your team is given a mystery case which is to find out

who abducted Yaya Dub. The setting is at the mansion
during Alden’s visit. Your group will have to move like
an investigating team wherein every member of the
group will have to check on the location assigned to
him/her to gather evidence needed in resolving the
case. These evidences can be gained by answering the
exercise in each location of the crime scene.

When each member has done his/her part, the group can now resolve the mystery case based on the
evidences that they have gathered.

Every group will be given a chance to explain how they gathered the evidences to each location of
the crime scene as assigned by the teacher.

From here, the teacher presents a picture and asks the chief detective of the group to state who they
think abducted Yaya Dub.

D. Generalization
The teacher gives an incomplete statement and calls some student volunteers to complete the sentence.
Through this, the students will be reminded of the necessary skills and values that they have to possess in order
to solve word problems involving permutation.

To solve word problems

involving permutation,
we must ______________________.
E. Evaluation
#AldubSavingYayaDub

The students will be able to help Alden

in saving Yaya Dub if at least 75% of
the class obtained a score of at least 3.

IV. ASSIGNMENT

#Aldub42Mtweets
The teacher posts the problem below in their facebook page and the students will have to submit their
work by commenting their solutions.

Consider a group of 5 couples who watch a musical play in a theater. In how many ways can they
be seated in a row of 10 chairs if:
A. they may sit anywhere?
B. the boys and the girls have to be seated alternately?
C. each couple sits side by side?
D. the boys are together and the girls may sit anywhere?
E. all the girls and all the boys are seated side by side?
