WORCESTER STATE BASEBALL ANTICIPATES BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Worcester State University baseball team hosts its first home game for spring 2018

on March 27 at 3 p.m. The Lancers take on the Rhode Island College Anchormen on its home

Kevin D. Lyons Diamond.

After winning championships last season, these Lancers rank third in the Massachusetts

State Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll. The team expects to continue its success

along with good fan support and high hopes of back to back championships.

Led by Head Coach Dr. Dirk Baker, Associate Head Coach Dave Wigren, with assistants

Rick Smith, Gregg Fritze, Emile Johnson, and Chris Monroe, the Lancers keep two seniors

Owen Gibbons and Matt Irzyk. Nine juniors, and 11 sophomores contribute to the team. The

team also adds 13 freshmen ready for their first season.

The Worcester State baseball team hopes to win back to back MASCAC championships

which no other team has done before. Can they do it?

Worcester State University Athletics Department, located in Worcester, Mass., includes

20 men’s and women’s Division III athletic teams that compete in the Massachusetts State

Collegiate Athletic Conference. With the new Wellness Center on campus, teams, students,
