Title: A Proposed Five-star Mid- rise Hotel: Living
in the Entertainment District
Location: Entertainment city, Paranaque, Metro

1.1 THE PROJECT
The proposed project is a Mid-rise hotel in the
midst of an aptly named entertainment city. Through
the study of similar structures both inside and out of
the Philippines, integrating foreign techniques with
Filipino style architecture, the proponent aims to
design a building dedicated accommodating guest
with Philippine hospitality. The project aims to
promote the image of the Philippines as a progressive
and modern country with high class living and
hospitality.
1.1.1 INTRODUCTION
Entertainment city in Paranaque city is a
very active environment filled with activities such as
casinos, malls and amusement parks. The area
attracts the attention of locals and tourist alike,
because of the specialized location suited for casino
gaming which is targeted for that market. Even for
people who are not avid gamblers, Filipinos love
exploring exciting areas such as Las Vegas-esque
cities within the country.
The Philippines is in the back foot of most
Asian countries when it comes to hotel
accommodations because of the general census, but
Filipinos are world famous for being innately
hospitable. A few buildings match the warm invitation
and hospitality of Filipinos as much as a hotel would.
A beautiful hotel would add to the aesthetics
of the city of Paranaque improving the quality of living
in the area. Welcoming and inviting to foreigners and
locals looking for a place to stay in the entertainment
city of Paranaque.

Entertainment city is a developing city and
would eventually have people wanting to live closer or
within the area for ease of accessibility and
permanent residence. The city is building up to be a
tourist destination in the near future and would require
more living space than its limited land mass.
Hotels are ideal in the area for not ruining
the constant stream of endorphins; rest is a necessity
but does not need to be long. The idea of fast paced
living is tied with the nature of hotels changing
customers as often as possible to maintain a steady
income.
There are condos in the area but do not
satisfy the wants of the more wealthy class that the
area attracts. A hotel designed for that superficial
need would cater to those people and reap the
benefits of a happier populi and economic revenue.
The hotel must also prepare for the income of foreign
stayers, pertaining to their basic needs and wants.
The Philippines does not have its own
architectural style and therefore does not follow
certain rules in definition. Creating a building that has
Filipino motifs as a focal point would paint the
Philippines in a much colorful shade to the global
market.
1.3 PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
 To design a building that can accommodate
local and foreign tourist visiting the area of
Paranaque
 To create a building that is well equipped for
the needs of multitudes of Hotel guests
 To design a building that promotes
Philippine architecture in a global stage
 To provide a venue that provides solace to
stressed out individuals with a calming and
inviting environment
 To design a building that promotes an active
lifestyle
 To design an aesthetically pleasing building
that improves the vicinity with a feeling of
entitlement and self-dignity
1.3.1 PROJECT GOAL:
The proposed hotel is to be used to
accommodate for the influx of tourist in the
developing area of Paranaque. A much higher quality
hotel would specifically target the niche of wealthy
individuals.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming
Corporation (PAGCOR) is a 100 percent government-
owned and controlled corporation under the Office of
the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
The Corporation was created during the Martial Law
years by virtue of a Presidential Decree (PD1067-A)
issued by then President Ferdinand Marcos in
response to calls for the Philippine Government to put
a stop to the growing proliferation of illegal casino
operations in various parts of the country then. The
law creating PAGCOR was later amended and
consolidated under PD 1869 otherwise known as the
PAGCOR Charter.
Under its Charter, PAGCOR was given a three-
pronged mandate:
 Regulate, operate, authorize and license
games of chance, games of cards and
games of numbers, particularly casino
gaming in the Philippines;
 Generate revenues for the Philippine
Government’s socio-civic and national
development programs; and
 Help promote the Philippine tourism industry.

1.5 SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS:
The proposed project focuses in designing a
building that fulfills the purpose of creating an
environment conducive for gambling in a legal space.
The project gives emphasis on the advancement of
entertainment and gaming that the specialized casino
will deliver. Listed below are the main focus and
target community of the project:
 Local casino goers and their friends and
family members they bring along.
 Foreign tourist staying for extended periods
of time.
 Business investors and their accompanying
gaming employees
 Retail sellers and food catering services
 Charity foundations
 Advertisement agencies
 Entertainment companies
The study focuses on the application of new
technologies in the field of architecture and casino
gaming that would improve the overall experience of
enjoying the building, inside and out
1.5.1 PROJECT GOAL:
The proposed casino is to be used primarily
for gambling but will not be limited to gaming. The
proposed project aims to provide an environment for
entertainment and stress relief through an
aesthetically pleasing and interactive environment.
Following the lifestyle of Filipinos as social people the development
venue will be adequately equipped for hosting large
amount of friends and family.

2.1 Site Selection Criteria
The National Capital Region (NCR) is the only

B. PARANAQUE CITY
Owing to Parañaque's strategic location, it is an
important centre for trade and business in Metro Manila.
Baclaran, where a large number of dry goods stores are
located, is one of the busiest markets in the country.
Small fishing villages called “fisherman’s wharves” are
also situated alongside Barangay La Huerta, where the
famous DAMPA, a seaside market with numerous
restaurants serving fresh seafood, is found. This has the
country’s international airport as well as the Baclaran
Church, one of the most active parishes in Manila, the
Duty Free for imported goods.[citation needed] and of
course Ang Bagong Nayong Pilipino Entertainment City
where three (3) integrated resorts (IR) licensed by
PAGCOR - Philippine Amusement & Gaming Corporation
are located.
Geography
Parañaque is situated in the southern portion of
Metro Manila. It is subdivided into two distinct districts,
each of which contains eight barangays. District I
comprises Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, Sto. Niño, La
Huerta, San Dionisio, Vitalez and San Isidro, while the
District II consists of Barangays BF, San Antonio,
Marcelo Green, Sun Valley, Don Bosco, Moonwalk,
Merville and San Martin de Porres.
Roads
Expressways, like Manila-Cavite Expressway,
and Metro Manila Skyway connects the city with the rest
of Metro Manila and Calabarzon. The at-grade portion of
Metro Manila Skyway in Parañaque has two service
roads, namely the West Service Road and East Service
Road, which both serves the communities and
businesses lying near the expressway. The NAIA
Expressway is the airport expressway that connects
NAIA Terminal 1, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Metro
Manila Skyway and also the Entertainment City under
development on the reclaimed area.
Topography
Situated on the reclaimed land of baranagay
Tambo, the land is near perfectly flat with no large trees
sloping gently towards the water front.
Local Drainage and Water Bodies
The City is within the catchment area of five river
systems. San Juan River which collects surface run-off
in 46% of the City’s territory has the largest coverage.
This includes the area east side of Quirino Highway at
Barangays San Bar-tolome, Bagbag and Talipapa
eastwards to Holy Spirit then at south from Mayon Street
in La Loma down to Camp Aguinaldo on the east side.
About 100 kilometers of rivers and creeks form the
drainage network within this basin.
Power Supply
MERALCO supplies the power needs of
Paranaque. Power services is distributed to the following
types of consumers; residential, commercial, and
industrial purpose.
Water Supply
Much of the water supply comes from manila
Waterworks and Sewerage System (Ma0ynilad Water)
whereas quite a number used pumps and artesian wells
especially those in the depressed areas. Water supply is
no longer the major problem of the residents of the city.
Government of Paranaque has done everything to
provide and adequate water supply.
2.3 Micro Site Analysis: The Site and its
Immediate Environs
The site is located in Entertainment Cty
Brgy. Tambo corner ASEAN Ave. fronting the Manila
bay. The zoning classification is PUD. The site is a
ten minute drive from the airport NAIA terminal 3.
Based on the strategically objective mentioned above
that the location should be inside the urban area
where they can establish relations with businessmen
and tourists.
