You have learnt that the computer is an electronic device. It is made up of

many parts and components’ the computer carries out instructions contained in
programs. These parts work together to form a computer system. Two basic
parts of a computer system are: Hardware and software.

Hardware and software

Computer hardware refers to the parts of a computers
that can be seen or touch Ed. For example’ the monitor, the
mouse and keyboard ‘the printer and the electronic
components inside the system unit. The internal hardware
includes the CPU’ the RAM and ROM and the hard disk.
How Computers Work
Computer work in three steps;

1. Input Data: Data is a collection of facts such as numbers. Word’

pictures, etc. Data can be entered into the computer by using.
Keyboard; and mouse. The data entered is called INPUT.

2. Process: After entering the data, the CPU works on it to give

meaningful information. This is processing. The CPU is found
inside the system Unit.
3. Output: After processing data ‘’the computer give result on the
monitor. It is called the output. Monitor and speaker are two
output devices.
