Demo-Teaching Competition

General Mechanics

1. Any bonafide undergraduate student of BSEd and BEEd of Laguna State Polytechnic University- Los
Baños Campus, College of Teacher Education is qualified to join the contest. All members of the
CTE Council are not allowed to join this contest.

2. The competition will simulate a real-life classroom teaching where there will be students, too.

3. The lesson plan must be submitted to the facilitator (Mary Ann Amparo) for final checking until
November 30, 2018. The lesson plan shall follow the 4A’s structure.

4. The medium of instruction must be anchored to the language required by your respective
specialization. (e.g. Math Major – English, Filipino Major – Tagalog).

5. Participants must provide their own materials for the competition.

6. The participants may employ a variety of instructional materials including the use of LCD and
PowerPoint Presentations.

7. Clarification regarding the contest’ mechanics will be entertained by CTE Council officers before the
contest. Please refer to Mary Ann Amparo (4th Year – Math : 09354337082) for inquiries.

8. The participant who gets the highest score at the end of the round wins the competition.

9. There will be a board of judges to decide on conflicts, questions, or clarifications and their decisions
will be final.

10. Three participants will be declared winners of the First, Second, and Third Place.

Participation
Each society/major must register only one participant for this competition.

Awards
Certificates of Participation shall be granted to all participants. Medals will be awarded to the winners,
together with Certificates of Recognition. These will be awarded during the Educ Night Celebration.

Venue
The contest will be held at the LIB 2 classroom of LSPU-LB Campus, CTE Department on the first day of the
Educ Week (December 6, 2018)

Demo-Teaching Competition

Objectives
To provide an opportunity for our dear BSEd and BEEd students to exhibit their excellence in Demo-
Teaching.

Situation

Topics/Lesson:

The topic or the lesson must demonstrate the theme of the Educ Week, “Embracing the Challenges
and Opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution (Education 4.0)”. The participants are free to choose
their topic as long as it is anchored to their respective specialization.

Level of Learners: Any

Contest Rules:

1. The participants will only be allowed to finish their demo with a maximum of 30 minutes each.

2. Each participant will be given 5-10 minutes to prepare their instructional material prior the proper
demonstration.

3. All participants must be inside the venue 15 minutes before their set schedule. Any participant
who will not comply will be automatically eliminated.

4. Each participant should provide their own materials for the demo-teaching.

5. The participants may employ a variety of instructional materials including the use of LCD and
PowerPoint Presentations.

6. Three copies of the lesson plan must be presented to the panel of judges before the beginning
of the demonstration.

7. There will be NO REGISTRATION FEE to be collected.

The criteria that will be used for judging are as follows:

1. Mastery of the subject matter 20%


Systematic lesson delivery
Shows mastery of the lesson; explains the lessons clearly and effectively
2. Questioning Skills 10%
Ability to formulate thought-provoking questions
Ability to answer students’ questions
Ability to handle students’ answers
3. Strategies/Methodology 20%
Routines observed (prayer, roll call, greetings, etc.)
Motivational activities/exercises relevant
Lesson presentation, discussion, application and evaluationwell executed; congruence observed
4. Valuing 10%
Relates lessons to real life situations
Integrates values in teaching
3. Instructional Materials 10%
Clear, complete, creative, and appealing to students
Strongly enhance the demonstration and teaching of the lesson – relevant to the topic
3. Communication skills 10%
Good and clear articulation and pronunciation
Good voice modulation
Good command of the English/Filipino language
Correct grammar usage
3. Classroom management 10%
Time allotment observed
Students’ behavior ( noise, inattention, etc.) properly attended to
Proper “Classroom Movement” observed
