1. ABSTRACT
1.1 Overview
THE MALL THAPRA has been identified as a prior building for carrying out AIS (designated as host)
and its affiliated operator DTAC (designated as sharer) in-building coverage enhancement project.
The project will provide good mobile phone coverage in THE MALL THAPRA through the installation
of indoor antenna distribution system.
A survey of THE MALL THAPRA, the new site sharing (GSM 900 and GSM 1800), was conducted on
19th of December, 2006. During the survey the details of BTS equipment room, transmission
requirements, and antenna locations for the optimum coverage as well as possible feeder cable
routings were identified. The results of the survey are to be presented in the form of an engineering
proposal. Below is the list of surveyors who were involved in THE MALL THAPRA in-building
antenna distribution system survey.
This document serves to inform the building owner on technical aspects of the proposed in-building
antenna distribution system. The engineering proposal will include the followings:
Material List – Indicates types and quantity of the installation materials used.
Trunking Diagram – Overall schematic diagrams of the antenna distribution system.
Floor Plan – Indicates the proposed cable routings and antenna locations.
M&E Support – The required mechanical and electrical supports.
Transmission Plan – Documentation for the transmission requirements.
Technical Specs – Technical specifications of the materials used.
Upon acceptance of the proposal, the pre-installation survey will be carried out by BTE together with
its sub-contractors. Detail cable routings and antenna locations will be confirmed at this stage. Any
existing building defects will be noted. The building owner will be kept informed of any changes.
CONFIDENTIAL
1.5 Installation
An installation work schedule and a name list of attendants belonging to BTE and its sub-contractors
accessing the premise and carrying out the installation work will be submitted. The installation will
commence as per the agreed schedule. BTE will carry out the installation as per the house rules and
constraints indicated by the building administrator.
Upon completion of the installation, the joint inspection among BTE, AIS and the building
administrator will have been carried out before the building will be handed over back to the building
owner and the installation is considered to be complete.
Upon completion of the installation, coverage test, quality test, and commissioning of the equipment
installed will be conducted among AIS, BTE, and the sub-contractors prior to the final integration.
Some minor work might be carried out in order to fully optimise the network.
AIS and its appointed contractors will carry out their maintenance for the installed in-building network.

2. BUILDING SUMMARY
2.1 Overview
The in-building coverage enhancement network for THE MALL THAPRA has been designed with the
following objectives:
RF Design Specification
To provide indoor coverage to those desired floors on such car park area, and so on (as permitted by
the building administrator) in the building needs to fulfil the criterion given by AIS and its affiliated
Operator DTAC (for example 99% of the coverage required areas with –75 dBm or better (RxLevel
from indoor system inside building above ground) and -85 dBm or better (RxLevel from indoor
system inside building below ground and car park) etc. with reference to the requirements from AIS
and its affiliated operator DTAC).
Coverage Solution
The back of the two proposed operators’ BTS turning to concrete wall on 2nd floor in car park,
equipped with 7/8", and ½" coaxial feeder cables, will be required to run from this place to cable
risers and various antenna points. On target floors, power splitters or couplers will be used for RF
signal distribution purposes. These signal distribution components will be installed at various
strategic locations throughout the building.
CONFIDENTIAL
The two operators’ BTS have been proposed to be located in glass room equipped with air-
conditioner on 2nd floor in car park as recommended by the building management, approaching by
driving to car park 2nd floor, looking for small entrance door to department store, at the door turning
right, going straight, seeing the BTS Room in the front, looking for the door of BTS Room, passing its
door, being found the BTS at the back and middle of the room. No other places are as suitable as
this one. The two operators’ BTS will be a floor-mounted. AIS’ BTS is Ericsson RBS 2202 model with
other ancillary systems. Electric power supply (with emergency backup supply), consumed by the
BTS (one set for AIS and the other one for DATC).
The AIS’ BTS protected with a 63AT circuit breaker, supplied from the dc load center or DCPDB,
shall be obtained through the rectifier with battery protected with a 250AT circuit breaker from a
single-phase ac load center or ACPDB protected with a 63AT circuit breaker, via a three-phase AIS
80AT circuit breaker fed by a three-phase ac building load center. Main ac jump point as well as
neutral jump point are extracted from the three-phase normal-type Building ACPDB while ground
jump point is connected with the ground rod. EIRP of the entire antennae has been calculated with
the assumed BTS output power of 37 dBm.
The DTAC’s BTS protected with a 32AT circuit breaker, supplied from the single-phase ac load
center or ACPDB, shall be obtained from the three-phase ac building load center, selected a vacant
slot plugged with one 60AT 1P, “GE” brand circuit breaker for W/H of DTAC. Main ac jump point as
well as neutral jump point are extracted from the three-phase normal-type Building ACPDB while
ground jump point is connected with the ground rod. The affiliated operator DTAC applies Nokia
Ultrasite BTS with output power of 37 dBm.
Cable access locations for floor to floor penetration are found at main riser on Level Basement to
Level 13. There are two POI. Each POI has 3-input branches to connect with the BTS of operators,
and each POI has 4-output branches for power distribution.
First output branch of POI 1 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs down
along the riser from car park 2nd floor to basement floor to split 6 times to terminate with antennae on
Level Basement.
Second output branch of POI 1 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs
down along the riser from car park 2nd floor to 1st floor to split 5 times to terminate with antennae on
Level 1.
Third output branch of POI 1 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor splits to three ways before those
three ways enter the riser.
One way at the riser on car park 2nd floor splits 2 times to terminate with antennae on Level 2.
Second way at the riser on car park 2nd floor splits one time to terminate with antennae on Level 2.
Third way at the riser on car park 2nd floor splits 2 times to terminate with antennae on Level 2.
CONFIDENTIAL
Fourth output branch of POI 1 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs up
along the riser from car park 2nd floor to 3rd floor to split 5 times to terminate with antennae on
Level 3.
First output branch of POI 2 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs up
along the riser from car park 2nd floor to 4th floor to split 6 times to terminate with antennae on
Level 4.
Second output branch of POI 2 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs up
along the riser from car park 2nd floor to 5th floor to split 7 times to terminate with antennae on
Level 5.
Third output branch of POI 2 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then climbs up
along the riser from car park 2nd floor to 8th floor to split 9 times along the riser from 8th floor to 13th
floor to terminate with antennae on Level 13 to Level 7.
Fourth output branch of POI 2 in the BTS Room on car park 2nd floor enters the riser, then splits to
three ways.
One way at the riser on car park 2nd floor splits 3 times to terminate with antennae on Level Car Park
2 and Level Car Park 2A.
Second way at the riser on car park 2nd floor climbs up to car park 3rd floor to split 3 times to
terminate with antennae on Level Car Park 3A and Level Car Park 3.
Third way at the riser on car park 2nd floor climbs down to car park 1st floor to split 3 times along the
riser from car park 1st floor to car park basement floor to terminate with antennae on Level Basement
and Level Car Park 1.
Additional access openings may need to be carried out on false ceilings to facilitate laying of cables
and installation of components.
Almost all of the antennae are mounted on plaster ceiling.
No problems appear in carrying out the installation work at common walkways.
Schedules for the installation work to be carried out in the building are flexible to do both on weekend
