The Automatic Lubrication System is used to lubricate the listed components below on the
following Wheel Loaders. 950G Series II, 962G Series II, 966G Series II, 972G Series II, 980G
Series II, 950H, 962H, 966H, 972H, 980H, 950K, 962K, 966K, 927K, and 980K.

 Bearings for the lift cylinders

 Bearings for the tilt cylinders
 Upper sleeve bearing and middle sleeve bearing for the bucket tilt levers
 Upper sleeve bearing for the bucket lift arms
 Steering cylinder bearings
 Rear axle trunnion bearings
 Bearings for the upper articulation joint
 Bearings for the lower articulation joint

Note: The autolube system does not provide lubrication to the drive shaft support bearing, the
drive shaft spline (center) and the drive shaft universal joints.

The automatic lubrication system consists of an electrical system and a lubrication system. These
systems work together. The electrical system turns the automatic lubrication system on and off at
periodic intervals. These intervals are referred to as lubrication cycles. Control unit (6)
communicates with lube pressure switch (4). The level switch (grease), and the TWIN display on
Series G and Series H machines and for Series K machines the Caterpillar Monitoring System.
The electrical system also controls the parameters of the lubrication system. The operator can
change the parameters with a diagnostic tool. The TWIN display on Series G and Series H
machines located inside the cab is used to change the intensity of the grease flow.
The Caterpillar Monitoring System, on Series K machines, located inside the cab is used to
change the intensity of the grease flow to the grease points. On the display system, use the arrow
buttons in order to navigate to the Autolube System. To navigate to the Autolube menu, select
Settings/Machine/Autolube. Select the required grease interval and press the “OK/Select” button.
The “Light” setting will provide grease every 45 minutes. The “Medium” setting will provide
grease every 30 minutes. The “Heavy” setting will provide grease every 15 minutes.

Metering units distribute the lubricant to the bearings through the primary lubrication line and
the secondary lubrication line. The metering units are available in different sizes. Each size
delivers a different amount of grease per cycle.
