Design of Reinforced Concrete Halls By pipc. inc. M. HILAL opr. sc. TECHN. PROFESSOR, FACULTY OF ENGINEERING CAIRO UNIVERSITY, GIZA 2005 PREFACE The contents of this edition are mainly the same as thoae of the Previous one with the necessary corrections and the addition of one of the biggest structures designed by the author, namely the bulk urea store shown in Fig. VIIT-9. It has further been found more convenient to replace chapter XT on Foundations by a new chapter, published for the firet time, on Folded Plate Structures. A simple sysematic methoa of design, based on the fundamentals of mechanics and theory of plane structures has been shown, To illustrate the application of the method, the design and details of three different folded-plate structures worked out by the author are included in thia chapter, The chapter on Foundations is inthe author's textbook on "Fundamentals of Reinforced and Pre- stressed Concrete”. The author hopes that this book remains of benefit to structu- val engineers, graduate and undergraduate students of the engineering faculties and higher institutes in the design of reinfaced conorete structures of common use. farch 1978 M.
