Research Proposal
Title Defense/ Oral Exam

Guidelines for Research Proposals:

Deadline for submission of research proposals for students
planning to graduate in April 2015:
March 3, 2014 (Monday) 1:00 – 3:00 pm
The research proposal/ feasibility study should include: the
Introduction, Methods and other contents that will support research
proposals:
1. Completed Research Proposal Cover Sheet, including adviser
approval sheet accomplished by members and advisers. Place
this form at the beginning of your proposal and secure all pages
with folder.
2. Title: The title should accurately describe the focus of your
Research.
3. Research Description and Method/ Documentation.
4. Schedule/ Gantt Chart: List of dates by which you will complete
all aspects of the work on your research, for example, gathering
resources, initial research, analysis data, interview, completion
of literature review, first draft, and so on.
5. Deadline for submission of approved research proposals is
March 20, 2014. The approved research proposal is the first
draft of thesis writing and it should be completed no later than
March 20, 2014 with thesis adviser’s signature of approval, and
is indeed ready to be viewed by the EE research Coordinator.
6. Presentation: A formal presentation of the research proposal is
required (March 6, 2014). This may include presentation to EE
Research Committee and public screening.
7. Submission Details: The proposal should be submitted to the EE
Research Coordinator; it will be reviewed and acknowledged by
the EE Research Committee composed by Faculty of Electrical
Engineering. The coordinator will notify both the group and your
thesis adviser(s) of the committee’s decision.
8. A highly unsatisfactory title defense requires another research
proposal upon recommendation by the panel with two- thirds
vote. Re- oral exam should be done no later done one week after
the Title defense proper.
9. A highly satisfactory title defense upon recommendation of the
majority of the committee members and merits the acceptance of
the paper.
10. If the quality of the proposal is found satisfactory, the
researcher/s proceeds to thesis writing proper and can enroll
the next subject EE 512.
