Classroom Discipline Plan

The following steps will take place in order to manage student behavior…

1. Private Signal—This will be your first warning. It will come in the form of a
“look” from me or a hand on the desk. It will be clear enough to indicate
your behavior needs to stop and you need to get back to work.

2. Verbal Warning

3. Hall Talk—If the behavior continues, I will quietly ask you to come out in
the hall with me so you can explain your actions without disrupting the
entire class.

4. Reflection Card/Lunch Detention—If your behavior still continues after our

conference, I will ask you to fill out a Behavior Reflection Card (see below).
Turn this into the teacher when finished. Depending on the severity of the
behavior, lunch detention may also be assigned.

5. After-School Detention—For those who continually are assigned lunch

detention, after-school detention will be the next step.

6. Office Referral—If classroom offenses continue to happen, administration

will be involved.

Restitution—UNDERSTAND…I want you in my classroom each and every day. If

behavior becomes a recurring issue, we will devise a plan together that repairs
damage or relates directly to this misbehavior. Also, please know that I come
into each day with a “clean slate” and I will be sure to communicate this to by
the end of the day.

You are expected to follow the laid of classroom rules each day. Failure to do so
will result in the consequences stated in this plan. Please understand that
extreme circumstances may deviate from the order of this list. I hold high
expectations for students’ behavior, and believe it is their responsibility to know
and follow classroom rules. With these expectations in place, and with students,
teachers, parents, and administrators working together, I believe a positive and
orderly learning environment will result.
Behavior Reflection Card
1. What was my behavior? Why was it inappropriate?

2. What was/were the reason(s) for my behavior?

3. What classroom policy did I violate?

4. What can I do/should have done to make things right?
