DO NOT USE GALVANIZED SCAFFOLDING OR MARKING PENS CONTAINING ZINC INSIDE FIREBOX

It is prohibited to use marking pens containing zinc and galvanized or aluminum scaffolding inside
the fireboxes containing Austenetic stainless steel tubes. This is to avoid Liquid Metal Embrittlement
(LME) where molten metal penetrates the grain boundaries of the steel. Fireboxes provide adequate
temperature for these metals to molten since they have relativity low melting points.

LME occurs in very specific combinations of metals, typical combinations are listed below:

300 Series SS >>>>>
