UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE
Eastern Greene High School Bloomfield, IN
Cooperating Teacher: Bill Valentine Fall 2016
● Developed and taught a lesson to students explaining push and pull factors related to
Russian Migration in the early 1900s. Students were later able to identify and explain the
differences between push and pull factors, as well as explain which would have been
their personal reason for leaving the Soviet Union.
● Worked with students in a level 4 French class while students read novels written entirely
in French. During this time, students were promoted to use context clues in order to learn
various unknown vocabulary words in their readings.
● Developed and taught lessons regarding French history related to the class text and
personal university studies. The lessons discussed various persons in French history, such
as Jacques Cousteau, as well as historical periods and practices, like the Nazi occupation
in Northeastern France.

● Interviewed students as a means of identifying individual and recurring patterns of
individual ideals that students have regarding history. These interviews aided in the
identification of topics in history that were taught in classes throughout the students’
education.
● Taught lessons involving Political Action Committees, in which students were promoted
to participate as well as identify any themes seen throughout the lesson that may
contribute to the overall understanding of the material.

Cooperating Teacher: Tina Goodlander Fall 2015
● Observed classroom dialogue in order to comprehend and assess discussions in a
multiculturally inclusive classroom. The dialogues observed were meant as a way to
further study various material from a course through the School of Education that focused
on multicultural identities within a schooling environment.
● Worked one on one with students in first and second year French classes on concepts
such as verb tense, gendering objects which contrasts that of English, and pronunciation
skills.

● Completed a half day job-shadowing of the district technology coordinator in which I
learned the various aspects of maintaining a school corporation’s technology from the
central location of the district.
● Attended and participated in a workshop on technology integration for elementary
educators.
● Learned basic structure of school district I.T. department, including how specialists fix
issues for teachers, how the department implements devices, and how the technology
coordinator receives and uses funding.

● Instructed and implemented the use of Prezi in the classroom with roughly fifty students.
Demonstrated to students how to find information and create their final project.
● Taught students the process of completing an author’s study in which students were
expected to learn about various aspects of the author’s life such as their education, what
books they write, and why they enjoy writing. Students would then compile the
information into a Prezi presentation, which was later shown to parents during school.

● Worked individually with students in a remediation/intervention style classroom to learn
positive interactions with students of various educational needs, including students with
identified educational disabilities and those with behavioral disorders.
● Taught study skills to students who were attempting to score higher on exams outside of
their remediation classes. Students made improvements throughout the school year in
various subjects.
● Implemented strategies taught in educational psychology courses as a means to help
improve students’ self efficacy within the educational setting.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Lake Station Community Schools
Substitute Teacher May 2017 - May 2018
● Covered classroom absences in the Lake Station Community Schools district in various
grade levels from Kindergarten to high school, following teacher lesson plans while also
maintaining classroom structure.
● Completed a maternity leave position for an English 11 and French I-IV classroom, after
the previous substitute quit mid-quarter.
