Addition
Addition is the math function that lets you know how much you have when you combine two or
more numbers.
Tips……..
Using place values
Adding numbers with the stack and add technique
Carrying when you are adding whole numbers
To stack numbers:
Place the numbers you want to add on top of each other in their value places.
Place the plus sign,+, on the left of the stack
Draw a line at the bottom.
1 1 1 1 11 1
14 246 1278 74578
+ 4 + 27 298 + 5628
18 273 1576 80206
Subtraction
Stacking Numbers and Subtracting
When you want to subtract one number from another number, must arrange according to their place values:
1 1 4 8
23 459 59 1
05
- 7 - 45 - 9 73
16 414 49 32
Multiplication
Multiplication is related to addition. It's a quick way of adding the same number many times.
If you have four numbers that are the same, such as 2 + 2 + 2 + 2, you can multiply them.
So, you can :
4x2=8 as 2+2+2+2=8
step by step………
> Product of 3 x 3 is 9
2 1
3 853 > Product of 5 x 3 is 15 so place 5 below the tens place value
x 3 and bring forward the 1 to next place value ( hundreds )
11 5 5 9 > Product of 8 x 3 is 24. ( 1 + 24 ) = 25. Place 5 below the hundreds place
25 15 value and bring forward to next place value ( thousands )
> Product of 3 x 3 is 9. Finally ( 2 + 9 ) = 11

Division
Division is the opposite of multiplication.
When divide numbers, you are splitting them into smaller, equal groups.
14 2 =7
2 62 1
The number that you're dividing is the dividend.
