Jeremiah 1-12 Questions
Jeremiah 1-12 Questions
3. Why did the LORD consider Judah to be more treacherous than Israel?
Answer: God does not like half-hearted repentance as God wants us to be transparent when
confessing our sins. Jer 3:10-11, “Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to
me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the Lord.” And the Lord said to me,
“Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.”
4. What is the great sin that Judah commit and how does that tie into Jesus?
Answer: Jer 7:31 they were sacrificing their sons and daughters to the fire. In light of
Redemptive History they really had no faith in the coming Messiah of the lion of the tribe of
Judah, proving they were not really among God’s people.
5. What great message does Jeremiah say in 12:15-17, and how does it apply to us today?
Answer: Jeremiah is speaking with Judah’s surrounding nations (Syria, Ammon, Moab, and
Edom). Though the LORD considers them wicked people, Israel’s neighbors were taught to call
on the name of the LORD. Even though God will uproot Judah from their own lands, the LORD
will have compassion their neighbors. If they will learn, worship, and obey the LORD’s
command, they will share in the inheritance. Therefore conveying a precursors of the coming of
the Gentiles being grafted in. Jeremiah is a prophet to all nations.
