Triconex Alert
Schneider Electric has reviewed the issue described in this Product Alert Notice and
determined that, if no action is taken to resolve the issue described in the Problem
Description, there is a potential risk of death, serious bodily injury, property damage, or
environmental damage. Customers must immediately review and analyze the impact of this
issue to their application. If this issue is found to be applicable, remedial actions must be
taken to ensure the continued safe operation of the system.
Affected Products
Tricon™ controller versions 11.2.x and 11.3.0, and TriStation 1131 4.16.0
Problem Description
The enabled/disabled status of some memory points may be changed when a Download
Changes operation is performed after doing any of the actions described below.
These actions may inadvertently cause the re-enabling or disabling of points, which can
result in the application not being able to perform its intended safety function, or
equipment energizing despite being locked out.
WARNING
UNEXPECTED APPLICATION BEHAVIOR
• If you are using the Tricon 11.2.x controller with TriStation 1131 4.15 or earlier, do not increase
the number of allocated Peer-to-Peer Send blocks, increase the number of allocated I/O points,
add I/O modules, and/or configure one or more SOE blocks for the first time during a Download
Changes operation.
• If you are using TriStation 1131 4.16.0 with the Tricon 11.3.0 controller, do not increase the
number of allocated I/O points or add I/O modules during a Download Changes operation.
For more detailed information, see Operational Restrictions and Recommended Actions below.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
Background
When the number of allocated Peer-to-Peer Send blocks is increased, the number of
allocated I/O points is increased, and/or one or more SOE blocks are configured for the first
time during a Download Changes operation, the Tricon controller memory is re-mapped.
Memory blocks are re-assigned and moved to new locations during this re-mapping. The
enabled/disabled status of points may overlap with the new memory areas, which may
inadvertently re-enable or disable memory points in the application. These points may not
appear in the disabled points list.

• Configuring one or more SOE blocks in the application for the first time
If any of these things were changed during a Download Changes operation, upgrade your
project file to TriStation 1131 4.16.0 or later, and then perform a Download All operation.
Then contact your regional support office or the Global Customer Support (GCS) Center.
NOTE: Use the TriStation Analysis Utility 2.3.0.125, available on the Global
Customer Support (GCS) website, to determine if your TriStation 1131 project is
affected by this issue.
If a project file affected by this issue has not been downloaded to the controller, find a
backup project file from the last successful download, and then upgrade it to TriStation
1131 4.16.0 or later.
If none of these things were changed during any Download Changes operation performed
since your last Download All operation, the enabled/disabled status of memory points is not
affected due to this issue. However, you should still upgrade your project file to TriStation
1131 4.16.0 or later as soon as possible.
Upgrading your project file to TriStation 1131 4.16.0 or later, and then using that version
to perform a Download Changes operation, will prevent the conditions that cause the issue
from occurring when using a Tricon 11.2.x controller. When using a Tricon 11.2.x
controller, TriStation 1131 4.16.0 and later does not allow you to increase the number of
allocated Peer-to-Peer Send blocks, increase the number of allocated I/O points, or
configure one or more SOE blocks for the first time during a Download Changes operation.
For information on how to upgrade a project file, see the TriStation 1131 Developer’s
Guide.
If you have upgraded to Tricon controller version 11.2.x via an online upgrade, you will not
be affected by this issue until after you have performed a Download All operation for the
first time after upgrading.
This issue has been fixed in Tricon controller version 11.3.0 and TriStation 1131 4.16.0.
If You Are Using TriStation 1131 4.16.0 with a Tricon 11.3.0 Controller:
Do not perform a Download Changes operation after doing either of the following:
• Increasing the number of allocated I/O points, but not saving that change before
creating one or more new tagnames.
• Adding I/O modules, but not saving the updated configuration before creating one
or more new tagnames.
If the number of allocated I/O points was increased, or I/O modules were added during a
Download Changes operation, immediately contact your regional support office or the
Global Customer Support (GCS) Center.
To avoid this issue, save your project (click File > Save Project) after each change to the
number of allocated I/O points, and/or each time you add an I/O module. Additionally,
once you have done either of the above, save your project again before you create one or
more new tagnames.
If the number of allocated I/O points and the number I/O modules were not changed
during any Download Changes operation performed since your last Download All operation,
the enabled/disabled status of memory points is not affected by this issue.

Upgrading your project file to TriStation 1131 4.17.0 or later, and then using that version
to perform a Download Changes operation, will prevent the conditions that cause the issue
from occurring. For information on how to upgrade a project file, see the TriStation 1131
Developer’s Guide.
If you have any questions regarding this Product Alert Notice, contact your regional support
office or the Global Customer Support (GCS) Center.
