OMO SEBUA, NIAS
Omo sebua have bowed galleries
underneath the large overhanging
eaves. They provided a defensive
vantage point, and in times of peace,
a ventilated and comfortable place
from which to observe the street be-
low.
Structurally, Omo Sebua shows ra-
tional load trail where the impressive
roof is supported with humble col-
umn. Creating three building mass.

ALTERNATIVE DESIGN 1
Nias traditional house is the main inspiration of this de-
sign, where the iconic slanted wall is functioned as audi-
torium seating. Steel bracing on each side, functioned as
a net, support the main load of auditorium. Which there-
fore, distributed to the main structural column on each
sides of the building
ALTERNATIVE DESIGN 2

This design is inspired by metabolism style, a post-war

Japanese architectural movement that fused ideas about
architectural megastructures with those of organic bio-
logical growth. Raw structural concrete emphasize bru-
talism expression on this building.
ALTERNATIVE DESIGN 3
Post modern architecture, a reaction against the austerity, formality, and
lack of variety of modern architecture is the main concept of this design.
STRUC-
TURE EX-
POSURE
The journey to the
upstairs are import-
ant in this design. To
create a new expe-
rience, the architect
exposed the struc-
ture for the escalator
user. Which show
honesty and creates
industrial ambience
from this design

AUDITORIUM

A PLACE THAT BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER

A SPACE THAT MATTER
PHASE 1

BUILDING IS DIVIDED INTO 4 AREAS VER-

TICALLY. STARTING FROM THE FROUND
FLOOR IS EXHIBITION HALL, BANQUET
HALL, PANEL ROOMS AND AUDITORIUM

PHASE 2

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE AUDITORI-

UM TO BE FREE FROM COLUMN. THERE-
FORE, IT IS PLACED ON THE UPPER
FLOOR AND WIDE SPAN STRUCTURE
IS NEEDED TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT

PHASE 3

NIAS ARCHITECTURE IS ADOPTED IN THE

SLANTED WALL FACADE, CRISS-CROSSED
BRACING,REPETITION OF COLUMN AS
HORIZONTAL ELEMENTS, AND EXTRUD-
ED FACE ON THE WEST OF THE BUILDING
On this landscape design, a gar-
den path, can become the thread
of a plot, connecting moments and
incidents into a narrative. The nar-
rative structure might be a simple
chain of events with a beginning,
middle, and end. It might be em-
bellished with diversions, digres-
sions, and picaresque twists, be
accompanied by parallel ways
(subplots), or deceptively fork into
blind alleys like the althernative
scenerios explored in a detective
novel.

ARCHITECTURAL
SECTION
INTERIOR
To put functions and objects in order
The body moves through space every day, and in architec-
ture, that can be orchestrated. This bulding has to acommo-
date two contrary activities. Which are openness and dividabili-
ty of exhibition, and private-integrated seminars on auditorium.
Therefore, this building gives clear separation of such activities vertically.
