Year 5 Assembly
Year 5 treated the school and many parents to their Class Assembly on Wednesday –
when they discussed the abstract noun ‘LOVE’! The Assembly was mostly scripted,
organised and staged by the children themselves, and they all had a chance to shine
and show their many talents. Well done to them all.

Dinner Party
The Year 6 Dinner Party last Friday was a sight to behold. The hall was transformed into a
glittering restaurant, with subdued lighting and candles adding a subtle atmosphere to the room.
There were many 'Ooohs' and 'Ahhhs' from both parents and children alike, with one young child,
on her way out of school at the end of the day, commenting that it looked like a beautiful
wedding venue!

Miss Sutherland and her team worked their magic and a sumptuous meal was served by our
waiters/waitresses (once plated by Mrs Prescott, Mrs Lippard and Mr Prescott). Mrs Mason
organised the children in the hall and Mr Hardwick organised them whilst their parents were
eating (alongside working his way through a rather large pile of washing up with Mr Prescott!). It
has to be said that the children's behaviour was exemplary and they thoroughly enjoyed this
opportunity of being a waiter or waitress for the evening.

During the week prior to the Dinner Party, the children had many related activities, including
calculating the cost of one of the desserts, comparing prices from four different supermarkets and
realising that there is more to budgeting than meets the eye!

Many thanks once again to Mrs Prescott, Miss Sutherland and all the staff involved, but also to
those parents who supported this wonderful event and made the evening so memorable.

The Learning Pit!
I received a lovely message this week about a
pupil who had got themselves 'stuck' during
their maths lesson. Mrs Durkin had managed
to move his learning out of his ‘comfort zone’
of the known and the easily achieved, into
new unchartered territory!

Ayrton shared this morning that he had

entered “The Learning Pit - but was
determined to get out of it during the
following lesson." I am pleased to report that
he did, and was able to share his story with
the whole school today, adding that "I felt
very proud of myself." Ayrton is pictured with
his drawing of The Learning Pit; what a great
way to celebrate on a Friday morning!

Mathletics
Our Mathletes were once again winning
certificates during this morning's Celebration
Assembly. In particular, it was lovely to see
some Reception children on the stage. A
special 'well done!' goes to Taran, Abigail,
Millen, Amrita and finally Oscar (who won
both his Bronze and Silver certificates).

Higher up the school, we congratulated Aaron

and Annabel who were both awarded with
Silver and Gold certificates.

Times Tables
Excitement is building for the annual Bronte Times Table
Championship on Wednesday 27th February. Over the half
term break, keep practising multiplication and division
facts (up to 12 x 12). Mrs Durkin will also be including
some calculations related to the 25 times table for good
measure! A few minutes practice a day goes a long way.

Who will be the Ultimate Bronte Times

Table Champion?
