 Corrugated box design is the process of matching design
factors for corrugated fiberboard boxes with the functional
physical, processing and end-use requirements. Packaging
engineers work to meet the performance requirements of a
box while controlling total cost throughout the system.

bar codes, labels and graphic design are also vital.

Corrugated boxes are used frequently as shipping

containers. Boxes need to contain the product from
manufacturing through distribution to sale and sometimes
end-use. Boxes provide some measure of product protection
by themselves but often require inner components such as
cushioning, bracing and blocking to protect fragile contents.

Laminated packaging products. Solid Fibre packaging
consist of a single sheet of board that can be of a variety
of qualities and thicknesses. Litho Laminated packaging
consist of a single sheet of paper that is laminated/glued
to a fluted board.

 Cardboard boxes are industrially prefabricated boxes,
primarily used for packaging goods and materials and can
also be recycled. Specialist in industry seldom use the term
cardboard because it does not denote a specific material.

The term cardboard may refer to a variety of heavy paper-

like materials, including, card stock, corrugated fiberboard or
paperboard. The meaning of the term may depend on the
locale, contents, construction and personal choice.

In business and industry, material producers, container

manufacturers, packaging engineers and standards
organizations try to use more specific terminology. There is
still not complete and uniform usage. Often the term
“cardboard” is avoided because it does not define any
particular material.
