Review of literature

Fundemental part of any study is a thorough knowledge of the area in which


the researcher is to be carried out and familiarity with other researche on the same
or realated topics. Review of litrerature makes the investigator aware of the
significants of the problem. They have selected for the study. In the initial stage of
the research, the litrerature helps the researcher to become familier with the
problem. Late it promotes a greater undestanding of the problem and its crucial
aspects and its ensuring the avoidence of the necessary duplication. it also provides
a comparitive data on the basis of which to evaluate and interpret the significants
of some scholar findings.

Conor co Reynolds1 (2009) in his article he reviwed the impact of transportation


infrastructure of recyclist safety. The result where tabulated within two catogories
of infrastructure, namely that at instersections(eg: roundabouts, trafic lights) or
between intersections on “straight-aways”(eg:bike lanes or paths). To assess
safety,studies examining the following outcomes where includes;injuries ,injure
severity and crashes.

Kennedy, jeffery2 (2011),in their article they examined the current trends in
service quality in transportation. In their study the results indicate that
employee’s possitive and negative behaviors are highly correlated to customers
overall satisfaction. The studies have emphasized the influence a servies employee
has on customer perception of the service quality.

Avinav3 (2009 in his study he explained employee satisfaction level in


A.P.S.R.T.C sangareddy depot.the studies emphasized that employee satisfaction is
essential to the success of any business.
Dinakaran D Paul and Dr.Rajarajan M4 satisfaction towards labour welfare
measures in Tamilnadu state transport corporation limited,Kumbakonam.this study
analyze the various dimensions on labour welfare measures that are administered
to the labour.it highlights the perceptionand level of satisfaction of the labours
regarding the various welfare measures and the methods to improve the welfare
measures in Tamilnadu state transport corporation.

P.M.Mohammed Najeeb5 (2006),in his article he examine the effect of cognitive


behavioral therapy for drivers.in his study based on the premises that negative
thoughts,images,or believes produced undesired or maladaptive behaviours.for the
study he selected 200 bus drivers randomly from fire station across the state.

Jegadish Ganesh P. and John Gunaseelan G.(1996) ,in this article “public
Bus Transport Services in Tamilnadu –An Appraisal”. The process of
nationalization of passenger road transport services in Tamilnadu goes back to the
period immediately after the Independence of India. Perhaps Tamilnadu has been
one of the pace setting states in India to nationalize road transport services in the
country. The Madras city bus services were first to be nationalized in Tamilnadu in
july 1948 and thus in the year 1997 in will be completing 50 years of bus transport
service to the travelling public in the region.With the economic liberalization and
privatization programmes in India there is a great debate over the tradeoff between
the commercial objective and the social goal of state transport undertakings (STUs)

The Hindustan Motors Ltd.., conducted a study pertaining to the various problem
confronted by the automobile industry in India.Halder D.K extensively evaluated
the traffic problems in Calcutta with focus on Calcutta Stats transport
Corporation.For the lower productivity of the CSTC during the period of 1964 – 65
to 1972-73
Mira Singh and Pestonjee (1990), hypothesized that Job Satisfaction is
influenced by the levels of Occupation, Job involvement and Participation. The
sample for the study consisted of 250 officers and 250 clerical cadres belonging to
a Nationalised bank in Western India. The study confirmed the hypothesis and it
was found that Job Satisfaction of the Bank employees was positively affected by
the Occupational level, Job involvement and participation.

Balgir (1991) attempted to understand hygiene-motivational factors as postulated


by Hergeberg based on their need priorities that dominate the minds of Indian
Managers while continuing service in their respective Organisations. The results
revealed that Job Satisfaction, Salary, Job Security, better chances of promotion,
happy Personal life, high Position and friendly social circle are some of the
motivating factors in that order which strongly influence Indian Mangers.

Mathew (1991) tested the relationship between Satisfaction and Organisational


commitment with a Non-recursive model that permitted the simultaneous
examination of the influence of satisfaction on commitment and the influence of
commitment on satisfaction. The study highlighted that the two variables were
reciprocally related but that the influence of satisfaction on commitment was
stronger.
