Our indebtedness and gratitude to the individuals who have helped us in completion of our
project cannot be adequately conveyed in a few sentences. However we recode our immense
indebtedness to Ma’am Sarwat Kazmi for her intellectual advice and kind gratitude during the
entire project. Her stimulating suggestions and encouragement always helped us in following a
line of study. We would like to specially thank our parents for their support, prayers, love and for

They evaluate each and every factor very closely before deciding to launch a new product.
Datumm date spread also passed through a number of approval phases after which Mitchell’s
decided to actually launch it. Datumm date spread is completely an innovative and trendy idea
in Pakistani market from Mitchell’s. Datumm will not only cater the needs of children but also of
mothers, youngsters and adults. Datum date spread is a wholesome diet within itself. Datumm’s
blend of nuts and dates will nourish people at its best.

Mitchell’s has a large pool of loyal customers so people will do try it. Besides, Datumm surely
will be preferred as compared to other jams and spreads offered by the competitors due to its
extra nutritious and healthy nature. Datumm will ultimately going to capture a huge market
within a short span of time. Datumm’s perfect target market selection, excellent segmentation,
distribution and promotional strategies will bring Mitchell’s to the heights of success. In a nut
shell, Datumm will definitely bring a difference in the lives of many people with its rich
ingredients, affordable price and quality services.

SWOT analysis of Mitchell’s and relating it with Datumm date spread:

Strengths:

 Mitchell’s is the only major food company in Pakistan today with fully integrated
operations having its own growing and processing facilities i.e. produces fruits in its own
farms. This is an advantage for Datumm as the dates used in datum date spread will also
be fresh and natural
 Mitchell’s continues its dominance as the innovator, market leader and trend setter.
 In 1998, Mitchell’s became the first food company in Pakistan to achieve ISO 9001
accreditation, thus becoming more competitive on the international stage also. This is a
competitive advantage for Datumm and it will help in its international recognition
 Mitchell’s has a smooth distribution system with nationwide coverage. This is also
strength for Datumm as efficient distribution plays a pivotal role.
 Highly qualified executives, using modern management tools, handle marketing,
commercial, financial and accounting functions
 Mitchell’s has successfully catered to the demands of its prestigious clients such as the
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), leading five star hotels and clubs, Utility Stores
Corporation, Canteen Stores Department, main stores and reputed restaurants in major
cities. As Mitchell’s has links with these institutions, it surely will help Datumm in its
recognition and excessive sales in various areas.
 The corporate emphasis of Mitchell’s is laid upon Quality Control reinforced by Research
& Development. Thus it ensures that datum will also be of high quality

Weakness:

 Mitchell’s promotional strategies i.e. their advertisements are not that much eye
catching and advertise at a short scale so this can be a weakness for datum too.
 Mitchell’s offer its jams in glass bottles, not in plastic bottles. It is a weak point for our
product as glass bottles are usually broken during distribution and consumers also
have complaints regarding it.
 More budgets are needed for Human Resource Development.

 Customer service staff needs more training for efficient working.

Opportunities:

 Mitchell’s already is the market leader and with a little effort, it can still remain on the
top position.
 Mitchell’s competitors offer poor quality products so it is an opportunity for datimm that
with its high quality, it can catch large number of customers.
 Mitchells is expanding its domestic and international market so it will also help datumm
in its effective recognition
 Mitchell’s is introducing new verities of food products & End-users respond to new ideas
so it will not only increase the profits of the company but also will help Datumm in its
establishment.

Threats:

 Political instability & international Financial crises in any country where Mitchell’s is
working will adversely effect not only Mitchell’s sales but also its products

 work force diversity can also create problems for Mitchell’s

 Mitchell’s is also vulnerable to Changing technology and concept so it shouldn’t stick to


the old techniques; move ahead and adopt the latest technologies
