Year 7 Lille Trip PDF
Year 7 Lille Trip PDF
March 2010
Dear Parent/Guardian
We are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity, which will give pupils a taste of France, enable
them to visit an interesting and historical town in small supervised groups, and see and hear some of
the French they are learning this year, particularly with regard to towns, shops and cafés.
We will travel by coach from the school (exact departure times to be confirmed, but probably leaving
at about 6.30 a.m.), go through the tunnel to France then on to Lille where students will be given the
time to buy something to eat in a shopping centre. Then we will have a guided tour of the historical
sites of the town and also visit the beautiful cathedral, which is in the old part of the town.
The cost of the trip will be £40 per pupil payable as a voluntary contribution. Although there is no
obligation on pupils to attend or pay, the trip is unlikely to take place if all expenses cannot be
covered by the pupils’ contributions.
French law demands that all participants have a passport. Students should also have a European
Health Insurance Card, in case of any medical attention being required in France. These are available
free of charge. Details of how to apply can be found at a post office. If your son does not have an
EHIC, you should apply now as it can take some time.
It is hoped that the whole year group will participate. If parents have any questions please do not
hesitate to contact us via the school office.
Please complete the attached form and return it in the envelope provided to the Reception post box by
Friday 26th March 2010. Further details about the day will be given to parents in due course.
Yours sincerely
