The Problem and its Background

Background of the Study

Food waste refers to the discarded or lost uneaten the causes of food waste or loss are

numerous and occur at the stages of producing, processing, retailing and consuming around 7.3

million filipinos consider themselves food poor. According to a recent survey of social weather

stations despite this number, food waste remains a big problem in the country.

In a Samar where poverty and malnutrition are at alarming levels. In Tondo , Manila

meat is recycled from trash wasted and re-cooked “Pagpag” has long been seen as a terrible of

wide spread hunger It has also below a business in marginalized parts of Metro Manila.
Statement of the Problem

What are the Impacts of food waste in our environment and what are the proper ways to

lessen the discarded food?

• How to manage the food waste in each families at Cielito Homes Subdivision?

• How does wasting food affect us?

• What are the causes of food waste?

Objectives of the study

To educate the people on what are the possible impacts of throwing uneaten foods or

food waste or food waste on the environment.

To reduce the food waste of families in Cielito Homes Subdivision.

Significance of study

This study will show what are the possible ways and practices that we can do to

manage the food waste


This will help the families to apply it to themselves and to lessen the discarded food in

the Cielito Homes Subdivision.

Scope and Delimitation

This study is focused on the effect of food waste in Cielito Homes Subdivision. It will

also tackles the impact on the environment.

This study is limited for the said subdivision and how to manage the food waste. It aims

to discuss about the negative effects of food waste in the place.
