BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Nowadays, there are many factors affecting the academic performance

of the students. One of which is family. As the smallest unit of the society,

family is one of the dominant factors that may affect a learner’s academic

performance.

In line with this, studies shows that broken family leads to series of

problems as early teenage pregnancy, teenage delinquency, and early

involvement of teenagers in crimes.

In some schools, a very alarming issue why some students stop from

schooling is early teenage pregnancy. In Maligaya High School, it has been

noted and observed that some students in grade 10 have dropped from

school due to teenage pregnancy. It is recurring situation which motivated

the researchers to discover why the issue is such and what could be the best

intervention to at least minimize or to mitigate teenage pregnancy among

the grade 10 students.
