The Delta Kappa Gamma Society
International was founded May 11, 1929.
Alpha Delta Chapter was chartered May 15,
1953
Criteria for Membership
“An active member shall be a woman who is
employed as a professional educator or has
been retired from an educational position. An
active member shall participate in the
activities of the Society”
Prospective members are encouraged to
attend chapter meetings as a guest to learn
more about the Society and its programs.
Alpha Delta Chapter makes a difference in
the community. Current chapter projects
include:
Annual college grant-in-aid (scholarship)
awarded to a local high school senior.
Annual Mini-grants issued to selected
beginning teachers
Schools-for-Africa Project fundraising
- To unite women educators of the
world in a genuine spiritual
fellowship.
- To honor women who have given
or who evidence a potential for
distinctive service in any field of
education.
- To advance the professional interest
and position of women in
education.
- To initiate, endorse and support
desirable legislation or other
suitable endeavors in the interests
of education and of women
educators.
- To endow scholarships to aid
outstanding women educators in
pursuing graduate study and to
grant fellowships to non -member
women educators.
- To stimulate the personal and
professional growth of members
and to encourage their participation
in appropriate programs of action.
- To inform the members of current
economic, social, political and
educational issues so that they may
participate effectively in a world
society
in any field or level of education.

School nurses
Teachers of ESE Students
Curriculum Specialists
Special area teachers
Administrators
Media Specialists
Guidance Counselors
School Psychologists
University and College Professors
and many others
Alpha Delta is located in Region VII
of Eta State (NC).
Members live in or are affiliated with
Caswell and Rockingham counties.
Our members are active or retired
educators.
Membership is by invitation to those
educators who have contributed to
their profession and their community.
Our chapter meets on the first Friday
night of October, December, March
and May. Dinner is served at 6:30 and
the meeting follows.

Society of women educators.
Th e Society promotes professional and
personal growth of its members and
excellence in education.
Established in 1929, Delta Kappa
Gamma has attained major objectives in
improving opportunities for qualified
women employed at every level of
education, as well as in advancing the
status of women educators. To this end,
the Purposes set forth by the Founders
continue to embody the spirit of the
Society. The Purposes have grown and
changed over time, but continue to be as
valid in today's contemporary world as
when first adopted. Membership is by
invitation only and considered
prestigious honor with a variety of
benefits and privileges.
