Jared is in his first season as the Mariners Major League Field Coordinator, and his first year as a big
league coach, overall…he spent the last 11 seasons working in the Rays organization, including the last
10 seasons as a minor league manager…Jared is from Olympia, WA and was selected by Tampa Bay
in the 16th round of the 1996 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Capital High School…he had a 12-year
playing career as an infielder, including 3 Major League seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays (2001-03).
OPENING DAY IN SEATTLE…Opening Day at T-Mobile Park is just 26 days away, Thursday, March
28 vs. the Boston Red Sox at 4:10 pm…Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez will throw out the ceremonial
first pitch…after the Mariners open the regular season with a pair of games vs. the Oakland Athletics
at the Tokyo Dome in Japan (March 20-21), they will return to Seattle on March 22.

followed by Kazuhiro Sasaki (2000-03), Ichiro Suzuki (2001-12, ‘18-c), Shigetoshi Hasegawa (2002-
05), Masao Kida (2004-05), Kenji Johjima (2006-09), Munenori Kawasaski (2012), Hisashi Iwakuma
(2012-c) and Nori Aoki (2016)...when Yusei Kikuchi makes his Major League debut he will become

CAMP IS ABOUT TO GET CROWDED…the Mariners minor league pitchers and catchers will
report for physicals on Monday, March 4 with their first workout on Tuesday, March 5...position

2019 JAPAN OPENING SERIES…the Mariners will open the 2019 regular season in Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo Dome will be “road” games for the Mariners…the Mariners will travel from Arizona to Tokyo on
Thursday, March 14…the trip will begin with two exhibition games vs. Nippon Professional Baseball
teams on Sunday, March 17 and Monday, March 18…the Mariners will begin the regular season on
March 20 at 6:35 pm in Tokyo (2:35 am in Seattle) and will fly back to Seattle following the game on
March 21 (6:35 pm in Japan/2:35 am in Seattle)…this will mark the 5th time that the Major League
