20 FUSION LICKS
VOL.2

Lick 1 - Tapping Extension

Martin says...

Thank you for checking out this new Fusion Licks series release. My goal with these 20 licks
was to provide you with some crazy, fresh sounding, yet still very usable and applicable
soloing ideas to expand your improvisational vocabulary and stir some ideas of your own.
Some of the material is very hard to execute, but even if you find yourself having trouble
with the technical side of it, you can still draw inspiration from the musical content of those
licks and adapt them to make them your own.

This first lick, like the following 10, is being played over the first of two tracks in this
package, which is in the key of Fm. There are different sections to this backing track, some
of which employ chord changes. Lick 1 however is played against a static Fm7 chord. The
first section is using arpeggio substitutions (Bb7 and Cm7 arpeggios against Fm7), the latter
one is based on your standard pentatonic box pattern, with extended notes on the high
E-string.
