Prestressed Concrete Spans in Bridges of KRDCL Project – RJ dated 28/02/2019

Cross section to be adopted:

SPL is executing Chennai Tada project wherein they are using 26.5m span and 37.1m span girders, at
number structures. SPL has got large numbers shutters for these girders.

To economise and to speed up the execution, SPL is proposing to adopt the same cross section for the
KRDCL project. Details of the girders in KRDCL project are as follows:

24m Span PSC Girders:

 B17 –Navalgunda (B57) – Skew=26deg. No. Of Girders = 4 x 4 spans = 16 Deck =10.5m

 B30 – Mahishi (B151) No. Of Girders = 5 x 10 spans = 50 Deck =10.5m
 B34 – Bantwal (B156) No. Of Girders = 4 x 13 spans = 52 Deck =10.5m
 B35 – Udipi (B160) No. Of Girders = 3 x 6 spans = 18 Deck =10.5m
 TOTAL NUMBER OF GIRDERS = 136
35m Span PSC Girders:

 B18 –Kudala (B65) No. Of Girders = 4 x 4 spans = 16 Deck =10.5m

 B20 – Mellagattige (B69) – Skew=10deg No. Of Girders = 3 x 4 spans = 12 Deck =10.5m
 B31 – Basavani (B151A) No. Of Girders = 4 x 4 spans = 16 Deck =10.5m
 B33 – Hasirumuki (B155) No. Of Girders = 3 x 33 spans = 99 Deck =10.5m
 TOTAL NUMBER OF GIRDERS = 143
30m Span PSC Girders:

 B29 –Changara(B150) No. Of Girders = 4 x 4 spans = 16 Deck =10.5m

NOTE : Girder shall be as for 35m span.

 TOTAL NUMBER OF GIRDERS = 16

PRESTRESS SYSTEM to be ADOPTED

 15.2mm dia STRANDs of 140sq.mm shall be used.

 HDPE sheathing shall be used.

1. B16 –Ingalahalli (B56)– 4 x24m Spans / Deck width 12m / 5 girders in RCC
2. B32 –Bhadravthy (B152) – 6 x37m+1x22m Spans / Deck width 12m / 4 girders in St. Steel
