MATT SAYS:

The pick-up bar is an E major pentatonic (E F# G# B C#) run against the B9sus4, giving
us a more suspended sound (no 3rd or 7th; D# or A). We then have a bouncy E major
lick using the suspended 4th and 2nd. In bars 7/8 there’s a series of 6ths moving
diatonically through the C# minor scale (C# D# E F# G# A B). The lick ends with a
sweeping C major and D major arpeggios, both with added #4ths.
