Knowledge management document
This document allows you to understand step by step procedure to extend the VG in a live
HACMP environment .First we consider a concurrent volume group being mounted on all the servers
and needed to extend the volume group from a additional LUN mapped from the storage.
Note:- Please look for storage administration guide for instructions on creating the LUN and mapping
the LUN to servers.
Log in as root:-
First step is to configure the new LUNs to the VG.
#cfgmgr –vl fcs0 & fcs1 * it is recommended to run cfgmgr with logical device namings
in a HACMP environment
# lspv * There are scenarios where your hdisk number may not be the
same on all the cluster servers.
# chdev –l hdisk# -a pv=yes * assigns a PVID for the hdisk on all the servers.This PVID is
unique and will be common for all the servers for that particular
LUN

now select the concurrent volume group to which you want to add the PV.
The next step is to identify the correct PV which will be extended to the VG.From the earlier
steps we whould have identified the LUNS with the PVID which will be added to this VG.
Press F4 to list the PVIDs under the disks to be added column and select the appropriate
PVIDs and press enter..This extends the VG with the PV on all the servers uniformly.
