Self Directed Learning
Self directed learning is a type of studying that is more efficient than basic learning which
include just writing, reading and arithmetic. A positive-self concept, knowing capacities and
clarity of value and the desire for innovation features self directed learning.
There are some factors that emphasize self-directed learning like motivation, student’s
interests and the attributive theory.
The attributive theory is about people which consider that a great success is just their
own work.
Student’s interest if student’s find the school program unattractive they won’t learn
because their interest is minimum. The freedom of choice is a good solution for this problem
which is major in our society right now.
Self directed education have a strong role in this areas: cognitive, moral, affective,
social, ego development.
Cognitive is about how students makes wise choices to achieve their goals
Social area is where the students take place in society. And about how they integrate into
competitive and cooperative groups.
Moral students will take good choices if a conflict will arise in the classroom because
they have a strong character.
Ego development in this case students know that their own powers will take place in the
society and they are conscious that everyone can succed in a world like this.
In conclusion a person should not acquire only encyclopedic informations. People should
gather experience to live well in a society like this. A strong character of a person can’t be based
only in study a strong character shoul know how to take choices in a world where poor and
climate disorder are a big problem.
