Stories with Teacher Farah!

Assalamo alaikam and Kia Ora Bayan. Today you sat and had some stories with Teacher
Farah as you get to know each other. Unfortunately the photos and the video Teacher
Farah took of Bayan today have been lost.

You seemed to especially enjoy a story about farm animals. You kept saying ‘’Warda’’
every time Teacher Farah found a picture of a cat. When Teacher Farah told Mummy
about this she said ‘Warda is the name of the cat at home’’.

What learning happened?

Bayan learning pathway this term is Deepening her Sense of Belonging as she gets to
know Teacher Farah, who is a new teacher in the Nursery for her. Mummy knows
Teacher Farah from before she went on maternity leave. Bayan knows the Nursery
environment and routines which is helping her build trust in a new teacher. She is
building a trusting relationship with Teacher Farah as they spend time together and
teacher Farah meets her play and care needs. Bayan is developing resilience to cope with
change. She is making connections between home and preschool as she feels more
comfortable with Teacher Farah. Kei te kaha koe (You are capable) Bayan!

How can we extend this learning?

We will continue to support Bayan’s as she increases her sense of Belonging as Teacher
Farah spends more time with Bayan engaged in the activities Bayan chooses.
