One Maoist sympathiser Lingaraj Azad @ Bag S/o Khageswar Bag of Lalam
village under Kalahandi Sadar Police Station, presently stying at Kandel in
Kesinga P.S area has been arrested by Kalahandi Police in connection with
Lanjigarh P.S Case 28 Dtd.26.4.17 u/s 143/147/148/183/341/120(B)/149
IPC/7crlA Act and remand report has been submitted in Bijepur P.S Case No. 01
Dtd.18.02.19 u/s 147/148/294/341/506/149 IPC /27 Arms Act. He is one of the
main over ground activists who supports the Maoists. He is also an activist of
Niyamgiri Surakhya Samiti. He makes a lots of nuisance in the District by
organising meetings against Bauxite mining in Niyamagiri area and mobilising
leaders like Ladda Sikaka, Drenzu of Lakhpadar village in Rayagada District,
Dhadi Pussika of Gorta village in Rayagada District, Krishna of Trilochanpur
village of Kalahandi District and scores of Dangria Kandh tribals in the locality.
Recently he organised rallies against setting up of CRPF camp at Trilochanpur.

Recently massive search operation and raids have been initiated by

Kalahandi Police at the behest of DGP Dr. R.P.Sharma to nab the anti-socials,
Maoist sympathisers and other disturbing elements before the General
Election, 2019. He had categorically instructed the Supdts. of Police in the
State to have a close watch on the anti-socials and other mischief mongers.
The arrest of Linagaraj is part of that process. DGP Dr. Sharma has appreciated
the effort of Kalhandi Police and asked SP Kalahandi to further intensify the
search and raid operation in the District for smooth and peaceful election in
the District.
