Health scheme extended to 43k more retd

The Cabinet’s approval to grant the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme to World War II veterans,
Emergency Commissioned Officers, Short Service Commissioned Officers and premature retirees will make
over 43,000 individuals eligible for cashless medical treatment. They will get the benefit through 425 ECHS
polyclinics, 2,500 empanelled private hospitals and all government hospitals across India. War widows will
be exempt from the one-time mandatory contribution to join ECHS
