Description
Jyotish and Yoga o㻀er guidelines and remedial measures for times of stress,
transformation, and crisis, individually and collectively, by understanding the
behaviors of the planets involved. Jyotish allows us to see patterns of behavior,
the strengths and weaknesses of the personality and karmic tendencies of the
individual and the collective. 2016 is an interesting year to study the e㻀ects of
the Saturn-Mars and Rahu-Jupiter conjunction.

"How to Give a Reading" Part 1 and Part 2 - James Kelleher
This will be a class that addresses the overwhelm that most students have when
they have gone to 10 teachers and read 20 books on astrology and are now
thoroughly confused and hesitant to trust what they know. I will show them a
simple and systematic approach to doing a meaningful reading for a real person.
It is geared to the beginner and intermediate student.
"Wealth vs Spirituality in Chaturthamsa D4 and Shodashamsha D16 and
Siddhamsha D24 Varga Charts" - Komilla Sutton
There are three very important varga charts that can be read from a totally
matierial point of view or a spiritual lone. These are Chaturthamsa D4 and
Shodashamsha D16 and Siddhamsha D24. We can study them for wealth,
Transport and Higher education. If you understand their deeper meaning they
deal with the fourth, eighth and twelfth houses, the search for moksha,
transformation and developing the higher siddhis to be able to 먮nally surrender
and gain the true knowledge. This workshop will explain the depth of these
three vargas and how to analyse them.
“Identifying Stress Factors with Jyotish” - Bill Levacy
From time to time in modern life, most everyone confronts stress to some degree
or another. Sometimes our activities exceed our abilities. While studies show that
the level of stress can vary by type of life event, Jyotish gives us insight into stress
triggers by astrological indicators. This class will use the tools of Vedic astrology,
and modern research, to examine those factors that stress people the
most….and what can be done about it.
“The Transcendental Eighth House” - Bill Levacy
This class o㻀ers another perspective on the traditional interpretation of the 8th
house as the astrological indicator of death. We will explore the little known role
the 8th house plays in describing the spiritual state of transcendence that is the
spiritual “death” or quiescence of the mind --not just the physical death of the
body. The class will reference classical Jyotish texts, along with the Yoga Sutras of
Patanjali and Vasistha’s Yoga.
"Purushartas, the four aims of life" - Brent Becvar
These classes will explore the Purushartas, or the 4 Aims of Life described in the
Vedic tradition, as may be seen in an individual hososcope. A balanced life means
applying appropriate attention to understanding our unique talents and gifts in
service to the whole (dharma), supporting ourselves and families (artha),
maintaining and enjoying harmonious relationships that support evolution
(kama) and ultimately 먮nding liberation in realizing our true nature as Pure
Consciousness (moksha).
"Crisis and Trauma Counseling" - Bill Sinclair
Together we will explore the de먮nition and manifestation of trauma and crisis.
Using case examples we will see indicators of trauma and crisis in the Vedic chart
and will explore ways to engage with clients in a productive health promoting
manner.
"Resilience and Coping: Pathway to Recovery" - Bill Sinclair
Resilience is our ability to cope with the unexpected. Jyotish can give us insight
into areas of life where we are resilient and areas where we may need to
implement practices that will enhance our ability to cope with the unexpected.
"Remedial measures as a preventive action" - Keiko Ito
"Jyotish is an excellent tool to bring about a better understanding of oneself and
to foresee challenging periods. It also o㻀ers many ways to work on the
di◅�culties in the natal charts and tough transits. Mars bringing anger issues,
Rahu creating more desires or Saturn setting obstacles in your path? How can we
strengthen ourselves to minimize the troublesome in⨹�uences and what are the
astrological, non-astrological and yogic steps we can take to weather the
storm?"

Arrival: The course will begin at 7pm on the 먮rst Date of the course with an
Ashram Orientation followed by Satsang at 8pm.
Departure: The course will conclude at 3pm on the Final date.
We encourage you to arrive by 4pm on Day 1, making the most out of the afternoon
by joining us for the Asana class and dinner. You are always welcome and encouraged
to extend your stay to any length before or after the course. Please indicate your

James Kelleher
Author of the recently published two-volume book, 'Path of
Light', Jim is a co-founder of the Council of Vedic Astrology
(CVA). He recieved his initial training in India and worked for
먮ve years in London as the personal assistant to the world-
renowned Jyotishi, M.K. Ghandhi. He then returned to the
United States where he has been consulting, lecturing and teaching Vedic
Astrology since 1984. He is a former board member of CVA and the American
College of Vedic Astrology (ACVA). He has been awarded the titles of Jyotish
Kovid and Jyotish Vachapasti by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences

Komilla Sutton
Komilla is co-founder and Chair of the British Association for
Vedic Astrology. She is an internationally-renowned
consultant, teacher and lecturer. Indian born, Komilla Sutton
is one of the pioneers in making this subject more accessible
for Western readers. She is author of Vedic Love Signs, Vedic
Astrology, The Essentials of Vedic Astrology, Lunar Nodes: Crisis and Redemption and
Indian Astrology.

William R. Levacy,, PhD
William R. (Bill) Levacy holds a BA in Literature, a Master’s in
the Science of Creative Intelligence, a Master’s in Education,
and a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Human
Performance Improvement (HPI). Bill is the author of,
“Beneath a Vedic Sky,” “Beneath a Vedic Sun,” and “Vedic
Astrology Simply Put.” He is a recipient of the 2011 “Jyotish
Medha Pragya” award by the Indian Council of Astrological
Sciences (ICAS) in New Delhi, India and the 2012 “Jyotisha Manasagara” award
from the Raman and Rajeshwari Research Foundation, in Bangalore, India. Bill is

Andrew Foss, PhD
Andrew Foss PhD, is the President and co-founder of the
British Association of Vedic Astrology. He has a BA and MA
from Oxford University in Physics and an MSc and PhD in
Computing Science. He is the author of the leading software
for Vedic Astrology, Shri Jyoti Star and the editor of the
journal Gochara. He is a Jaimini Scholar and has lectured internationally on
Jyotish, Ayurveda and computing and has published extensively in peer-

Krishna Darshan
Krishna Darshan, who hails from Uruguay, is a direct disciple
of Swami Vishnudevananda and has been a yoga and
meditation teacher for more than 28 years in South America,
Europe and USA. He has been the main Hatha Yoga instructor

and has an in depth knowledge of the practice of Hatha and Raja Yoga and

Brent BecVar
Brent BecVar, M.S. has worked in direct association with
Deepak Chopra and the Chopra Organization for more than
twenty-two years. With over 30 years experience as a
psychotherapist, educator and astrologer, Brent has studied
with respected Vedic Science masters in this country and
India.
In 1993 with Dr. Chopra and Dr. David Simon, Brent established and supervised
the Sharp Center for Mind Body Medicine Residential Program in Del Mar,
California, which later became the Chopra Center for Well Being. He was among
the 먮rst Certi먮ed Instructors of Primordial Sound Meditation and Perfect
Health/Ayurvedic Lifestyle Educators and continues to serve as the Director of
the Vedic Counseling Program for the Chopra Center for Well Being since 1999.
Brent BecVar, M.S. received a Master’s Degree in Education and Psychology from
the University of Kentucky. He was trained as a Certi먮ed Yoga Instructor by
Swami Satchidananda and the Integral Yoga Institute in 1970 and has taught and
been immersed in Vedic studies for over 40 years.

Keiko Ito
After studying western astrology from a young age, Tokyo-
based Keiko started learning Jyotish in 2003 with her teacher,
Komilla Sutton. Traveling regularly to India with Komilla to
deepen her Vedic knowledge, Keiko is a regular faculty at the
"Fresh Talents of Vedic Astrology" in India, at the “BAVA
Conference” in London and at the "Annual Vedic Astrology Conference" at Yoga
Farm in California. She also holds Jyotish-themed classes and workshops at
Sivananda Yoga Tokyo Center, is a full-time translator in four languages and a
part-time Vedic astrologer with clients in Japan and worldwide.

Bill Sinclair
Bill began studying Vedic Astrology in 2002. He began his
studies under Ronnie Dreyer andcontinues his studies under
the guidance of Komilla Sutton. Bill holds a Level 1 Jyotish
Certi먮cation from the American College of Vedic Astrology.
This certi먮cation requires a minimum of 600 hours of
accredited training in addition to passing comprehensive written and oral
examinations. He also holds the Jyotish Shastri Diploma from Komilla Academy
of Vedic Studies in Chandigarh, India.

Pundit Samavedula
Pandit Samavedula is a 6th generation Sama Veda pandit
who was trained in the Vedas beginning at age 7. He
attended the Shri Sarva Raya Veda Patha Shala school in
South India, and after 12 years of study, received his Master's
Degree in Vedic Studies (Ganapati Pandit). Panditji has been
coming to the Yoga Farm and Vietnam since 2009 performing pujas, homas, and
giving workshops on mantras and rituals. He has a very powerful voice and
when he teaches he uses humor to keep everyone engaged and inspired.

Swami Sitaramananda
Swami Sitaramananda is a senior disciple of Swami
Vishnudevananda, who is a direct disciple of Swami
Sivananda. She was nominated acharya by him in 1989 and is
presently acharya of US West coast Centers and Ashrams as
well as Asia, especially Vietnam and China. She has been
director of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm for more than 20 years and has
taught many international Teachers Training Courses in California, Vietnam,
China, Taiwan and India and is also teaching regularly at Sivananda Ashram Yoga
Retreat, Nassau Bahamas. She is the author of Positive Thinking Manual, Essentials
of Yoga Practice and Philosophy (translated in Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese)
and Swamiji Said, a collection of teachings by Swami Vishnudevananda in His Own
Words as well as two poem books. She is responsible for the Vietnamese
translation of The Completed Illustrated Book of Yoga by Swami Vishnudevananda.

Niranjan Babu
Bangalore Niranjan Babu is a scholar in Vastu, Astrology,
Mudras, Mantra Shastra, Gemstone and Meditation. He is the
son of the most famous Vedic astrologer of all times B.V.
Raman, who has been chosen as the Jyotishi to explain the
science of Vedic astrology to the United Nations. He inherited
from his Father the traditions of Jyotish and Vastu and is presently the publisher
of Vedic astrology Magazine started by his Father since 1895. He has authored
several bestseller books in English and regional languages of India. He has
