“Being converted is simply meeting yourself to go to the very end of your

being. Conversion means a willingness to see the truth of things and conform
one’s conduct to it” -A. Sertillanges

Paul was advantaged, intelligent, and well-educated. He had every

reason to embrace Jesus but chose to oppose him. St. Paul’s early life was
marked by religious zeal, brutal violence, and the relentless persecution of the
early church. St. Paul’s life shows a marked difference as he lived his life for
Christ and the advancement of His kingdom.

There is much we can reflect on the conversion of St. Paul. One is that
we should never judge others. St. Paul, the worst enemy of the early Christians,
would seem to be the most unlikely convert to the Church. But God had a plan
for Saul, just as He does for each of us. Second, God can save anyone. St. Paul
repeats itself every day as sinful, broken people all over the world are
transformed by God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ. Lastly, we have to give a
person a chance. The story of Paul is a story that can be told today—he isn’t
worthy in our eyes of a second chance, yet God granted him mercy.
