The document provides instructions for laying out a flange template using dividers, a prick punch, and a straightedge. It involves scribing centerlines, bisecting angles to extend lines across the stock, scribing arcs to locate holes and radii using specific measurements, and scribing outlines and fillets to define the shape. The instructions include two stops to verify the accuracy of the layout geometry.

- On the surface with the layout medium applied, position and scribe a “horizontal” centerline. - Locate the approximate center of this line and make a light indent with your prick punch. - Using dividers, construct a perpendicular bisector through the center indent. - Using dividers, bisect (2) adjacent 90˚ angles. With a straightedge, extend the bisector lines across the project stock.
- Set dividers to 3.44”. From the center indent, scribe an arc through each 45˚ line. Prick punch each intersection to mark the .75” diameter hole centers. - Set dividers to the appropriate radius to scribe the 4.25 bolt circle. Prick Punch the (8) intersections formed. - Using dividers, bisect each 45˚ for the remaining (8) hole centers on the bolt circle. Prick punch each center. - Set dividers and scribe the radii that form the top of each lug. - Using a straightedge, scribe a tangent between diametrically opposing radii to outline the four lugs.
- Set dividers to 2.40” and scribe an arc at (4) places from center through the horizontal and vertical centerlines. Lightly indent these locations. - Set dividers to 5.03”. From the previous indents scribe a radius between each lug outline. - Using a radius gage, scribe (8) fillets. - Set dividers to 1.50”. From center, scribe an arc through the left horizontal and lower vertical centerlines. Lightly indent these locations. - From these indents, scribe two intersecting arcs. Line-up this intersection with a straightedge and scribe two lines – from and parallel to the centerlines. - Set dividers to .31” and scribe arcs through these lines to mark the (3) .31” diameter hole locations. Prick punch the center points.
