AumsA- 8th Anniversary

A Journey with CHALLENGES and ACHIEVEMENTS

8 YEARS
Journey of AumsA Sri Lanka
In 2002, few Muslim students with Islamic patriotism and Social thinking from the Sri
Lankan universities gathered in University of Colombo, Faculty of Management Premises,
after seriously realizing the need of ONE UNIQUE MUSLIM STUDENTS’ VOICE towards
the betterment of the Muslim Community.

Then the students who gathered in University of Colombo, Faculty of Management premises,
spread this call to the other faculties of University of Colombo, and united them also under
that objective. Next, that call united the students around Colombo and who were studying in
Ragama Premises of University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, University of
Jayewardenepura and Unani Medical Faculty Premises of University of Colombo.

Then these students spread it to all the Universities and united all the Muslim Students under
one umbrella by networking all the Muslim Students in all the Universities and Higher
Educational Institutions in Sri Lanka, towards uplifting of our Muslim Community.
th
As a result, AumsA (All-University Muslim Students’ Association) was formed on 26
October, 2002, creating a land mark in the history of Muslim Community. It functioned
under the MOTO of “RISE THROUGH WISDOM “

From that date AumsA grew slowly and steadily and had a challenging, and exciting, but a
successful journey as a student’s organization. Now it comprises more than 6000 members
representing 13 UNIVERSITIES & 12 HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. These
members are UNDERGRADUATES, GRADUATES, POST GRADUATES AND DIPLOMATS
of the above mentioned places.

Today, while AumsA is celebrating its 8th Anniversary, it should be mentioned that AumsA
has reached this position, thanks to all mighty Allah, by some unmatchable sacrifices of many
individuals under many tough circumstances and by the support of many well wishers in Sri
Lanka and abroad. Following are some of the activities and achievements of AumsA Sri
Lanka in past 8 years as a students’ organization.

VISION: A supportive environment in which student community enjoys their

educational and cultural rights.

MISSION: Engage in constructive and beneficial relationships in academic, cultural,

economic and intellectual capacities with universities and educational
institutions of Sri Lanka
