JOIN US FOR ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP
Please take advantage of one of our worship opportunities as we begin our
Lenten journey on Wednesday March 6th: Ash and Dash (drive-through
ashes in the parking lot), 7–9 a.m. & 1–3 p.m.; Simple Ash Wednesday
Liturgy with Holy Eucharist at 12 Noon; and Ash Wednesday Liturgy with
Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m.
ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION RESULTS
We are happy to announce the election of Nik Brewer, Mike Hall and Sherry
Dale to the Vestry. (Sherry has been Treasurer of the Vestry and will
continue to serve in the role in addition to her new role as a voting member
of the Vestry. We are also pleased to announce the election of the following
lay delegates to the 2019 Diocese Convention: Todd Branson, Claudia
Estrada, Janet Mills and Marian Moon. These delegates will also represent
St. Augustine’s at the Special Convention to be held this fall to elect the new
Bishop for the Diocese of Oklahoma. Congratulations to all! The Vestry
installation ceremony will take place during the 10:45 a.m. service on
Sunday, March 3rd.
MARDI GRAS IS ALMOST HERE!
Will you be joining us to "laissez les bon temps rouler" (let the good times
roll) this Saturday, February 23rd at 6:30 p.m.? Dinner will be a classic
shrimp boil, smoked ribs and chicken, dirty rice, and our famous Holleman
green beans! Beverage choices will include keg beer and a wine pull. The
evening will also feature entertainment, silent auction and dessert auction.
Tickets are on sale for $30 apiece in the Commons Area between services.
Raffle tickets are also on sale for the Yeti Cooler package ($400 value)—$5
each or $20 for 5. Winner to be announced at the Mardi Gras dinner—need
not be present to win.
SHROVE SUNDAY: JAZZ, PANCAKES & MORE
On Sunday, March 3, Dr. Jeff Kidwell & the UCO Dixieland Jazz Ensemble will
once again bring their musical stylings to our 10:45 a.m. service. The
Brotherhood of St. Lawrence will serve a pancake breakfast between the
services. Don’t miss out on the festivities!

W.O.W. ADULT FORUM
The Wednesday night Adult
Forum, entitled “The Gospel and
Kingdom Project: What do we
mean when we talk about the
Kingdom of God?” continues
through the end of the month.
This class, facilitated by Richard
Bowles, includes an introduction
to/overview of the fifth chapter
of the Gospel of Matthew. What
does it mean when we refer to
“Kingdom” or “God’s Kingdom
Project?” Join us on Wednesday
nights at 7:00 p.m. to find out.
YOUTH STOCK SALE
Youth stock will continue thru
March 17th. Proceeds will be used
toward the 2019 mission trip to
Winchester, KY (June 22nd–29th)
where the youth missioners will
spend an intense week of
worship and home repairs. There
are 17 youth and 4 adults
traveling this year. Stocks are $50
each, and stockholders will
receive admission to our annual
stock holders banquet (to be held
upon our return), email updates
from the youth while traveling,
and priceless thank you’s.
“FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING
TO EAT…”
The recent government shutdown—the longest in U.S. history—affected a
huge number of our fellow Oklahomans. Many of us are looking for ways to
help. The Regional Food Bank helped fill the food gap for federal employees
and contract workers who were impacted by the shutdown. St. Augustine’s
would like to assist with that effort by taking monetary donations to be sent
to the Food Bank to help with the cost of this program. The Vestry has voted
to match all contributions received, up to $3,000. Your contributions—cash or
checks payable to St. Augustine’s—may be dropped off at or mailed to the
church office, placed in the offering plate, or donated by credit card through
our Tithe.ly app*. Please mark your donations “Federal Shutdown.” We will
send the funds collected, along with the St. Augustine’s matching
contribution, to the Regional Food Bank.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CARDIAC HEALTH
Life Line Screening will be at Crossings Community Church on Friday, February
22, 2019, offering safe, painless, non-invasive preventive health screenings
that are typically not a part of a routine physical. Please refer to the Life Line
flyer in the Commons Area for instructions to register for these potentially
life-saving tests today. Congratulations to our raffle winners, Charlotte Cascio
and Rosa Maria Hernandez, who will each get one free screening.
A NOTE FROM THE GUILD OF ST. GEORGE MINISTRY
We appreciate all donations, including snack items and hygiene products for
our homeless clients. A new website will soon be available to obtain
information about our services, with the ability to make any financial
donations online. We forgot to mention in our annual report that we have
two new Guild volunteers, Jeannie and Gil Haas (they have volunteered at the
Guild for many years but became members St. Augustine). With their
addition, we now have 6 volunteers from St. Augustine.
EMPTY NESTERS
St. Augustine’s Empty Nesters will meet this Friday, February 22, at Tommy’s,
5516 W. Memorial Rd. The Empty Nesters are a group of adults who meet at
a local restaurant for food and fellowship once a month. The next Empty
Nesters get-together will be after Easter—April 26. There will be no Empty
Nesters in March, since there will be Stations of the Cross and Fish Friday on

We are currently seeking age 60+ cast and crew to participate in our first
annual St. Auggie's Senior Follies, to be held Mid-October 2019. Do you enjoy
singing, dancing, acting or comedy on your own or with a group? Would you
like to be behind the scenes helping with sound or other production roles?
