fortress; my God, in You I trust."
P: For he will command his angels concerning us to guard us in all our ways.
L: On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a

OPENING PRAYER OF THE DAY: (Liturgist)
Lord God, as we gather for worship this morning, help us to overcome our
unbelief. Use our worship to touch us deep in our souls and to correct any false beliefs we
have about how much you love us. We know that your love is absolute, unconditional,
and never-failing. We know that you only desire the very best for us. So teach us how to
believe you fully as we praise your name. Amen.
(After the song completes, the liturgist stands and walks to the lectern.)
Loving God, we call to you and name you as eternal, ever-present, and
boundless in love. Yet there are times, O God, when we fail to recognize you in the
dailyness of our lives. Sometimes shame clenches tightly around our hearts, and we
hide our true feelings. Sometimes fear makes us small, and we miss the chance to
speak from our strength. Sometimes doubt invades our hopefulness, and we degrade
our own wisdom. Holy God, in the daily round from sunrise to sunset, remind us
again of your holy presence hovering near us and in us. Free us from shame and
self-doubt. Help us to see you in the moment-by-moment possibilities to live
honestly, to act courageously, and to speak from our wisdom.
Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for
us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in
Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. Know that we are
forgiven and be at peace. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
THE WORD

the pastor, or the liturgist may sit down in the pews with the rest of the congregation.)
