PARISH NEWS AND INFORMATION

1. RITE OF ELECTION: 9 RCIA Candidates will be attending for Rite of Election.
Date: 10 March 2019 (Sun) Time: 4.00pm Venue: Church of St. Francis De Sales, Sitiawan.
2. SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY: Next gathering will be held on 12 March 2019 (Tue) beginning
with mass at 9.30am at Bernadette Center. Parishioners above 60 years old are invited to attend.
3. LENTEN CAMPAIGN 2019: T-Shirts will be on sale at RM 20 per t-shirt. You may purchase it on
10 March 2019 (Sun) after 9.00am mass. Limited stock only available.
4. LENTEN CAMPAIGN 2019 PROGRAMMES: Theme: Anywhere With Jesus
The activities for each week of Lent will be carried out by the various chapels as follows;
1st Week (10 March 2019) -> Today the launching of the Lenten Campaign is animated by
St. Sebastian Chapel and PHDC. At 5.30pm this evening, there will be a sketch on prayer life at
St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, Tasek.
2nd Week (17 March 2019) -> Annai Velangkanni Chapel, Jelapang – At 5.30pm visit the sick within
the chapel. Names of the sick will be offered during mass.
3rd Week (24 March 2019) -> Christ the King Chapel, Buntong 3. At 5.30pm sketch on prayer, fasting
and charity.
4th Week (31 March 2019) -> OLL Parish Hall – Medical Camp (BP/ BMI/ RBS/ Pap Smear/ Blood
Donation/ Organ Donation).
5th Week (7 April 2019) -> Visit Orphanages (Individual/ Family/ BEC).
6th Week (14 April 2019) -> Distribution of Rations. PHDC Members and volunteers will distribute
rations to the poor and needy.
5. HERITAGE GALLERY: We are searching for a conservator to conserve, restore and preserve
some manuscripts & documents. Kindly provide us your qualifications, previous projects, name and
contact details to the Parish Office.
6. RECRUITMENT FOR DISCIPLESHIP: We will be starting our Discipleship program after Easter. It
will be conducted in Tamil and English. Those who are interested please contact the Parish Office and
register your names.
7. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY CELEBRATION: International Women Day celebration at
OLL Church on 10 Mar 2019 (Sun) at 10.30am-1.00pm.
8. LETTERS TO PARENTS OF CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES FOR 2019: I have written a
letter to all parents of confirmation students (Form 5) 2019. Please take from your children and read
them and adhere to its requirement. Going forward I will continue to communicate via letter
through your children for other matters as well.
9. FORMATION ON THE MISSION OF THE FAITHFUL: "BAPTIZED AND SENT" - Session in
English: 28 March 2019 (Thu) from 8.00pm-10.00pm at Bernadette Center. Open to all. Please
register your names at Parish Office.
10. REQUIREMENT FOR BAPTISM: I would like to highlight the following matters pertaining to
Infant Baptism in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. (a) Please choose appropriate name for your
children/ infants. Saints and biblical names are encouraged. Please refrain from choosing popular
actors'/ footballers' and other inappropriate/non-Christian names. (b) Choose God-Parents who can
come for the Baptism Instruction (compulsory). This is easy if they are staying within a reachable
distance. (c) Be serious about faith and Baptism. No talisman or amulets; No colour strings attached
to your hands or elsewhere; No other forms of rituals/ cultic ornaments. Baptism requires faith and
belief in one God and Christian living.
11. UPDATE ON CTK CHAPEL: With regards to CHRIST THE KING CHAPEL Building plan, we
have carried out the FOUR following procedures (a) CTK Chapel Committee were consulted on the
building plan (b) All BEC Leaders were invited to discuss/comment on the building plan before
submission (c) Some necessary amendments were made (d) We have already submitted the plan to
MBI for approval. Now it is time to wait for approval.
