Minutes of Kayts St. Anthony’s community welfare society meeting held on 08.03.2019 at
No.22, St . Lucia’s lane, Kotahena.

The meeting commenced at 7.45 pm and the following were discussed.

1. It was brought to the notice of the members present that the House which was donated
to the Society is in a very bad condition. Since no one has shown any interest in staying in
that house it has got neglected due to poor maintenance.
It was decided to do minor repairs with the help of the contractor at the time of Church
renovation, since most of the labourers will be staying in the house.

2. The outcome of the very successful fund raising meeting held in Canada was
discussed in detail. It was revealed that the Community in Canada has volunteered to
contribute for the Church renovation in 03 stages. Commencing from 15.04.2019 and
31.07.2019 and the final collection on 15.12.2019.

3. There was a concern regarding the cost of flooring, Since it was not realistic.
Committee decided to take up this matter with the Engineer and the Contractor.
 4. Mr. Rexi Anton has spoken to some of the members and had requested to do a perfect
and solid Job and had assured their fullest support.

5. In the meantime it was decided to initiate a collection/contribution of LKR 50,000/= from

each committee member and also from the other local members. A suitable letter to be
drafted in this regard.

6. The Parish priest had announced during the Lourds Feast that he had partly completed
the Mission House project and is expecting funds from us to finish the job. It was decided to
inform the parish priest in writing that since the Colombo committee had started work on the
Church renovation, we are unable to make any contribution for the mission house. Some of
the committee members informed that even on an earlier occasion it has been brought to the
notice of the Parish priest that our priority will be the Church renovation.

7. It was decided to appoint Mr. Brijesh Anthonypillai as one of the coordinator in USA.

8. It was agreed that each and every committee member will take turns in visiting Kayts
once the Church work commences, and the cost will have to be borne by the committee
member.

9. Next meeting will be held on 23.03.2019 (Saturday) at Mrs. Freeda Jesuthasan’s

residence at St. Lucia’s lane.

Since there were no other matters to be discussed, the meeting concluded at 8.45 pm.
