SITE COORDINATOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Roles and Responsibilities
DEFINITION
The Regional Site Coordinator serves as a type of case manager for the Woodrow Wilson Fellows and
provides for a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, coordination, evaluation,
and advocacy for options to meet each Fellow’s comprehensive needs through communication and
available resources to promote the outcomes of the Piedmont College Woodrow Wilson Georgia
Teaching Fellowship Program.

ROLE
The Regional Site Coordinator serves as the primary liaison among the Fellow, the host school, and
Piedmont College. This individual also fulfills the role of the Pedagogy Mentor on the Fellow’s
Student Support Team. As the case manager, this individual’s responsibilities extend from the clinical
placement to the academic program and all points in between.

This position is compensated either through course load equivalency or faculty overload pay. The
compensation, based on workload, is also determined by the number of Fellows within the regional
territory as well as travel time to and from the schools located within the region. Contracts will be
established with Regional Site Coordinators for each cohort of Woodrow Wilson Fellows and are
generally arranged as Fall-Spring commitments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a resource/contact person for each Fellow in the assigned region, host teacher(s), host
school(s), and Piedmont College.
2. Respond to questions/concerns/suggestions from the host school(s) and host teacher(s).
3. Ensure each Fellow in region is clear on program expectations.
4. Ensure each Fellow in region is appropriately oriented to his/her host school.
5. Model and interpret Georgia’s Educator Code of Ethics.
6. Model and interpret Piedmont College School of Education Teacher Candidate Dispositions
(provided in the Site Coordinator Handbook).
7. Help each Fellow set reasonable goals based on assessments and Professional Development Plan.
8. Help each Fellow evaluate progression toward goals.
9. Consult with each Fellow to develop strategies to deal with problematic situations.
10. Provide “just-in-time” suggestions for classroom management, lesson planning, and instructional
strategies.
11. Help each Fellow connect day-to-day practices with theory.
12. Help each Fellow analyze his or her lessons by utilizing purposeful inquiry.
13. Provide timely conferences with each Fellow and/or host teacher(s) to discuss overall
performance, including growth and areas that need development.
14. Help each Fellow to develop reflection skills that move beyond simply recording/reporting
through facilitation of weekly reflection using the attached Connections Framework and
Purposeful Observations connected to program labs (see attached list).
15. Assist Fellow to make connections with edTPA rubrics by using them as a lens for observation of
the work of the classroom.
16. Support the Fellow/host teacher(s) cooperative and collaborative relationship, including
facilitating the collaborative teaching model.
17. Meet with other Site Coordinators, Lab and Exploration Facilitators, Content Mentors, and the
Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Project Director at several times throughout the year for ongoing
program coordination and feedback.

Under the umbrella of counseling, the Site Coordinator/Pedagogy Mentor should:


1. Supply leadership for maintaining the integrity of established Fellow policies and regulations.
2. Confer with the Host Teacher(s) and Content Mentor about the progress of each Fellow.
3. Provide adequate individual conference time to assist each Fellow.
4. Emphasize the importance of ethical and professional conduct.
5. Respond to each Fellow’s reflections in ways that stimulate the Fellow’s thinking, rather than
telling the Fellow what to think.
6. Confer as soon as possible with each Fellow concerning the observations made.
7. Keep a log of his or her endeavors with each Fellow (provided in the Site Coordinator Handbook).
8. Schedule and lead conferences with each Fellow and other pertinent support team members at
the beginning of the semester, mid-Fall, early Spring, the end of the Fellowship, and at any other
time deemed necessary.

The Site Coordinator also has the role of evaluating the Fellow. Specifically, the Site
Coordinator/Pedagogy Mentor has the evaluation duties listed below:
1. Observe each Fellow teaching in the classroom a minimum of six times each semester. Additional
observations may be needed.
2. Complete Intern Keys rubrics for each of the ten standards during both fall and spring semesters
(provided in the Site Coordinator Handbook).
3. Provide written and oral feedback on each Fellow’s performance following each observation.
4. Respond to each Fellow’s ongoing weekly reflections to encourage inquiry, meaning making,
insight, and continued growth (provided in the Site Coordinator Handbook).
5. Complete a Dispositions rubric for each Fellow for both fall and spring semester (provided in the
Site Coordinator Handbook).
6. Provide other documentation of each Fellow’s progress as needed.
7. Provide a formative evaluation for each Fellow at the end of fall semester.
8. Complete a summative evaluation for each Fellow at the end of the spring semester.
9. The Site Coordinator/Pedagogy Mentor has the role of assisting the Clinical Support Manager and
Assessment Coordinator with collecting assessment data.
