Part – B

1. Two identical rollers, each of weight 50 N, are supported by an inclined plane and a vertical wall as shown
in figure. Find the reactions at the points of supports A, B and C. Assume all the surfaces to the smooth.

2. String AO holds a smooth sphere on an inclined plane ABC, as shown in figure. The weight of the sphere
is 1000N, and the plane is smooth. Determine the tension in the string and the reaction at the point of
contact B

3. A string ABCD, attached to two points A and D has two equal weights of 1000 N attached to it B and C.
The weights rest with the portions AB and CD inclined at angles of 30° and 60° respectively, to the vertical
as shown in figure. Find the tensions in the portions AB,BC and CD of the string, if the inclination of the
portion BC with the vertical is 120.
4. An electric light fixture weighing 150N hangs from point C, by two strings AC and BC shown in fig.
Determine the forces in the strings AC and BC.

5. Replace the system of forces acting on a body given in fig by using force and couple acting at point A.

6. The following fig. shows a coplanar system of forces acting on a flat plate. Determine the resultant and the
x and y intercepts of the resultant.

7. Four forces and a couple are applied to a rectangular plate as shown in fig. determine the magnitude and
direction of the resultant force couple system. Also determine the distance x from O along the x-axis where
the resultant intersect.

8. Find the resultant of the force system shown in fig and its position from A.
