Given such differences, each district may have to identify its own set of realities to
find a program of training that will increase administrative effectiveness." In
general, an effective principal is one who functions well as an overall manager—not
only as an administrator, but also as an instructional leader.

INSERVICE TRAINING
Among the most common forms of inservice options for principals are:
1. Informal self-improvement — reading, writing, travel, and
participation in community activities
2. University-based inservice programs—courses, seminars, and
short courses to pursue certification, training, and degree
requirements
3. Training endeavors sponsored by categorical programs funded by
the state and federal governments
4. Training opportunities provided by the department of education
(State Education Agency)
5. Inservice training by professional associations such as the
American Association of School Administrators (National Academy
of School Executives), the Association for Supervision and
Curriculum Development (National Curriculum Study Institutes),
and the National Association of Secondary School Principals
(National Institute for Secondary School Administration)
6. Inservice by private organizations interested in administration
such as the Charles F. Kettering Foundation, the Danforth
Foundation, and the Ford Foundation
7. Consortia of school districts, often in concert with state
departments of education, providing training through academies

PELATIHAN INSERVICE

5. Pelatihan pelatihan jabatan oleh asosiasi profesional seperti American Association of School
Administrators (Akademi Sekolah Eksekutif Nasional), Asosiasi untuk Pengawasan dan
Pengembangan Kurikulum (Lembaga Studi Kurikulum Nasional), dan Asosiasi Nasional Kepala
Sekolah Menengah Pertama ( Institut Nasional untuk Administrasi Sekolah Menengah)

6. Inservice oleh organisasi swasta yang tertarik dalam administrasi seperti Charles F. Kettering

7. Consortia distrik sekolah, sering dalam konser dengan departemen pendidikan negara bagian,
memberikan pelatihan melalui akademi
