socio-cultural issue.

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to:
 Present a simple plot analysis of the story using plot diagram.
 Show the appreciation of the story through various activities.
 Write a surprise ending of the story

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: The Last Leaf by O Henry
Reference: Grade 10 Learner’s material pp. 377-382, Teachers Guide pp. 322-325

Materials: Chalk, cartolina, video presentation, powerpoint presentation

Motivation:

Photo Analysis
The teacher will present photos of some local artists who suffered and survived
from illness. Have the students match the photos in column A with the description in
column B.

3. Abstraction:
a. Prepare a simple plot analysis of the story, The Last Leaf. Be able to present
it in front using a plot diagram or a story mountain.

b. The learners will watch a video interviewing victims of typhoon “Yolanda” and
then after that the teacher will ask different questions regarding on the video
that they’ve watched.

4. Application
The class will be divided into four groups and each group will assigned to do
different tasks.

Group 1 (The writers)


Write a surprise ending of the story. It consists of at least 5-7 sentences.

Group 2 (The artists)


Make a poster having these following themes from the story.
It will be explained by the reporter.
