A U-tube manometer is a device used to measure fluid pressure using the difference in fluid heights in two legs of a U-shaped tube. A fluid is any substance that continuously deforms under an applied shear stress and has a tendency to flow. Compressible fluids can be compressed, while incompressible fluids maintain a constant density and cannot be substantially compressed.
