A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 8

Teacher : Baricuatro Renato Jr. B. Date : April 08, 2019

Subject : Mathematics 8 Time : 10:00-11:00AM

III. Procedure: (Cooperative Learning Method)

Teacher’s Task Students’ Task

A. Preparation
a. Preparatory Activity

Teacher asks the students to give the

cubes of the following numbers.
1 , 2 ,3 , 4, 5 ,6 , 7 , 8
1 , 8 , 27 , 64 , 125 , 216 , 343 , 512
Very Good !

b. Motivation

Can we get the product of

(a+b) (a^(2)-ab+b^(2) Yes, sir !

What are we going to do if we will get

its product ? We will multiply the first term of a binomial
to each term in the trinomial, and then
multiply the second term also to teach
term in the trinomial.

Very Good !
Please, write your answer on the board

a^(3)-a^(2)b+ab^(2)+a^(2)b-ab^(2)+b^(3)
= a^(3)+ b^(3)
Correct !

How about this problem

(a-b) (a^(2)+ab+b^(2) a^(3)+a^(2)b+ab^(2)-a^(2)b-ab^(2)-b^(3)

= a^(3)- b^(3)

Very Good !

B. Logical Development In the first problem, the second term of a

binomial has positive sign and the 2nd term
So, what is the difference between the of a trinomial has negative sign, while the
given problem? 2nd problem was just the reverse of the first
problem, the sign of the first problem is
positive while the sign of the 2nd problem is
negative.

What do you call the result of the first The result of the first problem is the Sum
problem ? of the cubes.

Very Good !

And, how about the second given

problem?
The result of the 2nd problem is the
Difference of the cubes since it has
negative sign in 2nd term of a binomial as
its result.

To combine the two concept, what do you

think our topic is all about ?

I think our topic is all about the Sum and

Difference of Two Cubes

Very Good !

C. Enhancement

I’ll give you another set of problem

which you are going to answer.

u^(3)- 8
(u-2) (u^(2)+2u+ 4) j^(3)+27
(j+3) (j^(2)-3j+ 9) v^(3)+64
(v+4) (v^(2)-4v+ 16)

D. Application

Now, let us play a game. Our game for

today is called “E- FACTOR MO KO”.
Here our mechanics of the game to be
follow:

1. Group yourselves into 3 and each

group consist of 5 members.
2. Each must present the binomial and
trinomial factors by the given Two
Cubes.
Each group must select 1 representative to Students participate
present and discuss the problem assigned
to your group.

Group 1 will answer the problem

u^(3)-125

Group 2 will answer the problem

c^(3)-216

Group 3 will answer the problem

z^(3)-512

IV. Evaluation:

I guess all of you know already the concept of Sum and Difference of Two
Cubes. At this moment I want you to answer this problem for your assessment. After
your answer try to identify the differences of the given problem and explain how you
come up with that solution.

(m+4) (m^(2)+4m+ 16) m^(3)+64+8^(2)+32m

(q+3) (q^(2)-3q+9) q^(3)+27

V. Assignment:

Research about other ways in solving the Sum and Difference of Two
Cubes.
