1) 3 Parties that involves in M&E design procurement:
Parties Roles & Resposibbility
a. M&E consulting engineer - commence the design contribution during the
concept and outline scheme design stages with
the specialist contractor during detailed design
-constrained to a large extent in their design
input by the rapid advances in technology and
onset of fee competition
b. The suppliers & manufacturers - provide an element of design detailing
- constantly looking towards the development
of the next generation of plant and equipment
c. M&E specialist installers - The M&E contractor has to produce the
(contractors). detailed design and this process usually
highlights a whole variety of problems
associated with the following :-

-The M&E contractor must produce the

detailed design with process of buildability,
interfacing, performance, co-ordination and late
appointment

1) 3 impact of late inclusion of M&E design in construction project:

I. The financial effect or "real cost" of such attitudes is much needed to endorse the many voices in
the industry now calling for change.
II. The rise of the management contracting system has been cited as a further
underlying cause of difficulty
III. The management contractor has lost the ability to manage construction works due
to the remoteness of the management team from the work.

2) Advantages of early involvement of M&E contractor in project design phase:

I. Lead to cost and time saving
II. Improve working relationship between various parties
III. Smoothing out out the co ordination and integration identified earlier
