Human eye structure

Cornea:

-It is the transparent dome shaped tissue that forms the front part of a human eye.
-It functions as a window allows the light rays to enter eye.
-Cornea does not contain blood vessels, but contains many nerve endings that make it
extremely sensitive.

Sclera:
-It is a white outer coating of fibrous tissue that covers entire eyeball, except for the
cornea.

Aqueous humor:
- It is clear watery fluid, contains two chambers behind cornea.

Iris:
- Iris is located in the center of the cornea. It consists of many fine muscle pathways
that can contract or expand.

Pupil:
- The pupil is a hole located in centre of the iris of an eye that allows light to pass
through.
- Pupil controls the amount of light entering eye.
Lens:
-Human eye consists of bi convex lens. It converges the light rays and images of rays
will be allowed to fall on retina. It can adjust its focal length with the help of ciliary
muscle.

Vitreous humor:
- The inner space of the eye ball is filled with gel like clear liquid (vitreous humor).
- It is required to give stability to the eyeball.

Retina:
- It is located inside of the eye. Retina converts light impulse into an electrical nerve
impulse.

Optic nerve:
-The job of the optic nerve is to transfer visual information from the retina to the
vision centers of the brain via electrical impulses.
