Verbs​ - are words that express action or state of being

Linking Verbs​ - do not show action but link a word with another like is, are, was, am, were, etc. ; some are sensory
like tastes, feels, sees, etc. ; it connects a subject with the predicate.
Example:
1. It ​sounds​ amazing.
2. He ​is​ awesome.
3. Our model ​is​ my teacher.
Action Verbs​ - shows action.
Divided into two:
1. Transitive Verb​ - action that takes direct and indirect objects.
a. The Spaniards ​brought​ Christianity to us.
b. Our culture ​gives​ me a sense of pride.
2. Intransitive Verb ​- expresses action without referring to an object, usually follows an adverb.
a. Filipinos ​learn​ easily.
b. Everyone ​applauded​ enthusiastically.
Helping Verbs​ - help complete the meaning of the verb phrase; looks like linking verbs but cannot stand alone.
Example:
1. I ​have tasted​ their native delicacy.
2. They ​will give​ a contribution to the charity.

Word Formation Process


1. Blending ​- ​putting words together​ by joining the first part of the first word with the last part of the second
word.
2. Compounding ​- ​combination​ of two or more words to form a new one.
3. Clipping​ - shortening a word by cutting off some parts.
4. Acronym​ - word formed from the initial letters in a series of words.
